This little pumpkin is living his best lie because he gets groomed regularly

Grooming is about your dog’s health and comfort not just how cute they look (which is pretty cute 🥰)
Why do different breeds have different needs for grooming?
What are the problems that can happen if we don’t get our dogs groomed when they need it?
What’s a mat? Why is is a problem?
A Mat is a tangle or knot of hair that spreads across the skin and hardens.
Mats trap bacteria next the skin not to mention there is hair pulling pain as the hair tightens. It hurts them.

We can help you maintain a length you like for your pup AND keep them comfortable if you come in regularly

Not sure how frequently your dog needs to get groomed?
Brush and comb daily (just like for yourself) Spend 5 minutes a day

Bathe monthly or more frequently if they go in the lake (the beach is not a bath)

Grooming including cleaning ears and trimming nails should be done monthly

Smooth coated breeds like Labs or Beagles should see be fully groomed every 8-10 weeks
Long hair that sheds or double coats like Golden Retrievers or Huskies should get a full groom for de shedding and furnishing trims every 6-8 weeks
Dogs with hair that needs trims should be groomed every 4-6 weeks depending on the density, curl r coarseness of the coat to prevent mats from forming
If you have questions, we are here to help you figure out what will work best for your pup.
We have discounts for maintaining a regular schedule and you can earn a free groom each year by joining our grooming program
Keep watching for more details!

The point of Compassionate Grooming is that we feel the same way you feel about your dog and we want him to have a positive experience, we go slowly, we don’t force anything that your dog is not comfortable with and his safety and comfort are the first priority.

Our Story

“Puppy.” That was the first word I spoke. It’s also the way I met my husband years later. Our mutual love of puppies. And cats. And birds. And fish. And kids. We both grew up as the kid in the neighborhood who babysat, mowed yards, and walked the neighborhood dogs. The first dog I cared for was the 19 year old toy poodle, Suzette, who belonged to a family of eight children I babysat, when they went on vacation. I knew which bed she would be hiding under, I would sit with her and hand feed her wet food on a spoon and I would carry her outside to ti**le. I would bring her back in and place her carefully on the bed with pillows so she could see the birds outside and she would wait for me to come back a few hours later.

We started our business in 1998 so we could care for pets in their homes because it was less stressful for the animals than boarding and our focus expanded to the dog bakery we started in 2002 which grew to the store and all the extras like dog grooming and dog training. We figured do what you love and it doesn’t feel like work. We try to surround ourselves with like-minded staff, people who care about the pets in their care.

Our entire focus in the store is on providing the most nutritious foods & treats, the best quality toys, beds, accessories and providing the best possible service which comes with years of experience under our hats and offering sage advice to those who ask. We try to provide the best value for people who care as deeply for their pets as we do.

Welcome.
