Let’s talk a little bit more about Bahama and Jamacia. These two are victims of the annual fall horse dumping season. They were no longer as useful as they once were and were sold to the kill buyer. The were “Bailed” by a Wonderful man in NY. Thanks Paul. He sent them to us for Quarantine, Rehab and to Find there Forever Homes.
Bahama is a 14-15 year old Saddlebred Mare. She is a beautiful red color and has a very sweet face. Supposedly she was a lesson horse at one time, before going to the Amish and being a buggy horse. With her grace and being used as a broodmare for many years she most likely is registered but her papers have been lost along the way. She is a little standoffish still and doesn’t appreciate anyone coming into her stall. But she loves her food and really enjoys all her outside time. All in all she is a nice horse, that I am sure will get friendly with time. Jamacia is very attached to her and she treats him with cool indifference.
Jamacia is 12-13 years old Dutch Harness Horse raised by the Amish. He is trained to drive and was totally ok with a rider getting on him at the Kill Pen. Other than that we have no history. He can’t decide if he wants to be friendly or not. One minute he is at the gate asking for attention, the next he is putting his ears back and getting all sticky face. But he is just talking smack. He definitely has a past has he has a large chunk of his neck muscle missing on his left side. But it doesn’t seem to bother him. He has that wonderful blaze on his face that looks like a Palm Tree. He is a slow eater, mostly because his obsession with Bahama. He takes a bite of food and then has to go over and check on her. He loves his outside time and has some wonderful frolicking moved. He does a great buck from a stand still.
Jamacia got his name because of his blaze, and one of our wonderful kid volunteers decided on the name Bahama for the mare, since they are basically inseparable.

Never a dull moment around here, royal had an adventure. He got into a pasture. He should not have been able to even get into it. Turns out he climbed over a giant, frozen poop pile and jumped a fence. He's spry for being so big. He's back with his group safe and sound. Please consider donating towards royal and his crew. Thanksgiving tuesday.

Ginger Girl
Let's Talk about
Ginger Girl.
That is her registered name. She is as 22 year old Trotter Standardbred Racer. Who after have more then done her duty on the racetrack, and then produced several winning babies, still ended up headed to slaughter. But not before spending a year working on an Amish farm.
I can only imagine the shock it must have been for her to go from a cared for stall horse to being thrown away and having to deal with such a harsh reality. We was so shut down when she arrived. It took her the longest of all your rescues to come around. She still is pretty shy around strangers, and doesn't like fast movement.
She is in decent shape considering her very athletic history. But like all of us who worked hard when we were young. She has arthritis in all her limbs, and has a hip that bothers her sometimes. But she is thriving here. She loves her food, and treats. She is often hanging out in the pasture with Royal
Please help support Ginger Girl this Giving Tuesday.

Hello Everyone. It is $5 Friday once again. This week is Fortify the Fence Friday. We need to replace a large amount of fencing per our insurance company. This is imperative the comfort and safety of the horses going into winter. Not glamours, but needs to be done. We need to buy additional materials and it looks like we will probably have to hire some help. As I am not doing well replacing the fence by myself, and we are coming up short on volunteers. So, if you are looking for a volunteer opportunity and don't mind hard work we would love to have.
This is something important that allows the rescue to continue operating and giving the horses their best lives by allowing access to more pasture.
Please donate, every single dollar helps. Thank you in advance.

Update: It took a few hours and the lifting team, plus their backup, but she was fine once she was on here feet. And she is doing great.
We have an ongoing emergency here. At the farm. Gypsy's down. She has been down for a while. She's not gonna be able to get up on her own. I have done everything I can. By myself, to help her, this is no longer a one man job. We have the vet and the emergency lifting team coming. Hopefully, they'll be here shortly. Right now, we're just waiting and she's stable, and I know the first question i'm gonna get.Yes, this is going to be very expensive.

Hello, everyone. So it looks like we finally have the 3 big percherons integrated into the herd. Still, gotta keep an eye out there's drama now and then. Somebody got into a little tiff yesterday and left awake of destruction, but all in all, everybody is doing very good. Looking at Stryder now standing there, so patient at breakfast, you would never guess that when he got here, his stud brain was so bad, he was like a rampaging dragon on steroids.
