Hello Everyone. We did Bahama's Maternity photo shoot. She is so beautiful, and she looks amazing. She is doing great. No signs yet that she is close to giving birth. But she needs support now, to get ready for her baby.

Bahama was saved from the slaughter holding facility in November. One of 4 horses we took in during the fall horse dumping season. She was bailed by a gentleman, 15 minutes before she was to be on a truck to Mexico were she and her baby would have been killed

She is safe now. And getting all the love and care she needs. We are just waiting for the baby. We want to make sure her baby gets every advantage from the beginning so they never end up back in the slaughter pipeline.

Bahama has a baby registry at Farm and Fleet and Amazon. Please consider buying something off her list, so, her and her baby can thrive.

Call to Action. Senior Feed is on sale at Farm and Fleet till Wed.. We are hoping to buy at least one pallet of feed. $600. Please help us meet this goal. We go thru one bag of Senior feed a day, that really adds up.

Our horses need your help. Donations for horses once they are considered "safe" from slaughter basically are non existent. And yet this is when they need the most support. The costs to keep them healthy and safe are just starting once they are out of the kill pen.

Every dollar counts.

$5 Friday once again. It has been a hard week here at the BoMeric. We had to turn away, not one but two horses due to lack of funds. It is heartbreaking when that happens.

And Gypsy was down again yesterday, and she was pretty banged up. There were serious conversations about letting her go. We did not, we banded together and got her up, and cleaned her wounds up the best we could last night. She is fine this morning. But it costs us quite a bit to save her, again.

We need to increase our resources so we can continue to help horses suffering. There are many more horses in the slaughter pens again this week. Waiting to be rescued.

We need to get more equipment so when a horse living with us needs emergency assistance we are prepared to give it. We will not give up on the horses in our care. No matter what the personal cost.

But we can't do it alone. Please, Please donate today, it will help save lives. And even $1 can help make a difference. The horses need you.

This right here is why fundraising and supporting a rescue is so important. This poor Mare (AllTheReasons) is half an hour away from being shipped to Mexico. And slaughtered in the most brutal way. She's had a racing career and a decent home most her life. But now she got thrown away. The fundraising groups are trying to get the money raised to bail her. But right now, even if they do, she doesn't have anywhere to go, you have no idea how gut wrenching. It is when we have to say no to a horse that really, really needs us because we don't have the extra funds for her.

I have been trying all morning to find some way to help her and have exhausted my options

Hello All. We have some good news. Bo, one of the horses we took in November from the kill pen went to his forever home a couple of weeks ago. He is a Morgan/Frisian cross who was said to be 14-16 years old. He is a very sweet boy, but he carried a lot of trauma. He came along way while he was here with us. He is doing great in his new home, and we look forward to see his continued growth.

He is the first horse that moved on to a new home since we started. As most of you know our beloved rescues are mostly elderly and or special needs. So, they are with us for the remainder of their lives. We hope to be able to help more horses who will be adoptable in the future. Please help us make this dream come thru.

Hello Everyone. We have some news. Bahama who you have seen in a couple of our videos is Pregnant. She was Vet checked last week. She should be having her baby in 6-10 weeks. We have started watching her really close. And she is separated with just her companion Jamaica.

She sold at the auction as open. Her previous owner guaranteed there was no baby in the belly. This just shows again how shifty some people are. If Paul, one of our supporters had not bought her, and sent her to us for rehab, she would have gone to slaughter, baby and all.

But now she is getting all the love and care she and her future baby need. We will be keeping everyone updated. If you want to see more about her please subscribe. We will be doing updates there first.

Two emergency vet calls in 24 hours. This is what rescue is all about. Especially when you care for mostly elderly and/or special needs horses.

Mr. T caught his hoof on something while out on a adventure. He tore a chunk of his hoof off all the way down to the living tissue. This is not something you want to see. Horse hooves are designed to make sure that living tissue is never exposed to the elements. This opens his foot to all sorts of possible infections. We cleaned out the wound and packed it with medication and sterile gauze. Then we wrapped it in more gauze, vet wrap and gorilla tape. This wound will need daily bandage changes for weeks. He is also now on pain medication and antibiotics. He is walking sound, and will make a complete recovery. Emergency Treatment Cost $845.00

Less than 12 hours later, Gypsy was down, in the barn. She was unable to stand up on her own. The concrete floor can get slippery in the colder weather. It was obvious she had been trying for a while, she was exhausted, and shivering. And she had her butt wedged against the support beam in the barn. We had to call in the emergency team. She needed Banamine which is like horse strength Advil, and some steroids. We got together and came up with a plan, since lifting her in the barn is not workable where she was. The ceiling is too low. We put sand and straw around her, and were going to put her on a sled and pull her into a better position, and then lift her. She was rested at this point and her meds had kicked in. Luckily for us she HATES the Skidsteer, so as I brought it into the barn and got it into position, she gave it one more giant try and managed to get to her feet. She walked it off, and was completely fine. Emergency Treatment Cost $342.00.

We know caring for these beautiful animals takes a lot. No horse will ever be denied treatment because of money while in our care. But expenses like this mean we might not be able to save the next one going to slaughter, living in abuse, or getting dumped for being elderly. We don't want to have to turn horses away. Please help us make sure the next one can be saved and get the love and treatment they deserve.

Let’s talk a little bit more about Bahama and Jamacia. These two are victims of the annual fall horse dumping season. They were no longer as useful as they once were and were sold at Auction.

Bahama is a 14-15 year old Saddlebred Mare. She is a beautiful red color and has a very sweet face. Supposedly she was a lesson horse at one time, before going to the Amish and being a buggy horse. With her grace and being used as a broodmare for many years she most likely is registered but her papers have been lost along the way. She is a little standoffish still and doesn’t appreciate anyone coming into her stall. But she loves her food and really enjoys all her outside time. All in all she is a nice horse, that I am sure will get friendly with time. Jamacia is very attached to her and she treats him with cool indifference.

Jamacia is 12-13 years old Dutch Harness Horse raised by the Amish. He is trained to drive and was totally ok with a rider getting on him. Other than that we have no history. He can’t decide if he wants to be friendly or not. One minute he is at the gate asking for attention, the next he is putting his ears back and getting all stinky face. But he is just talking smack. He definitely has a past has he has a large chunk of his neck muscle missing on his left side. But it doesn’t seem to bother him. He has that wonderful blaze on his face that looks like a Palm Tree. He is a slow eater, mostly because his obsession with Bahama. He takes a bite of food and then has to go over and checks on her. He loves his outside time and has some wonderful frolicking moves. He does a great buck from a stand still.

Jamacia got his name because of his blaze, and one of our wonderful kid volunteers decided on the name Bahama for the mare, since they are basically inseparable.

Please consider supporting Jamacia , Bahama, and all the horses like them that are yet to be saved.

Never a dull moment around here, royal had an adventure. He got into a pasture. He should not have been able to even get into it. Turns out he climbed over a giant, frozen p**p pile and jumped a fence. He's spry for being so big. He's back with his group safe and sound. Please consider donating towards royal and his crew. Thanksgiving tuesday.

Let's Talk about
Ginger Girl.
That is her registered name. She is as 22 year old Trotter Standardbred Racer. Who after have more then done her duty on the racetrack, and then produced several winning babies, still ended up headed to slaughter. But not before spending a year working on an Amish farm.

I can only imagine the shock it must have been for her to go from a cared for stall horse to being thrown away and having to deal with such a harsh reality. She was so shut down when she arrived. It took her the longest of all our rescues to come around. She still is pretty shy around strangers, and doesn't like fast movement.

She is in decent shape considering her very athletic history. But like all of us who worked hard when we were young. She has arthritis in all her limbs, and has a hip that bothers her sometimes. But she is thriving here. She loves her food, and treats. She is often hanging out in the pasture with Royal

Please help support Ginger Girl this Giving Tuesday.
