My Bacci, who was almost 16 years old passed away on Valentines Day. He came from Vermont when he was 2 and has been here ever since. He was a bichon/dachshund mix. Will miss him so much!!

Another sad day for Doxie Haven! One of my good friends, Justin W Dauby lost his Khloe a bit ago. She was about 17 and died at home. He adopted her from my rescue many years ago. In fact, that’s how we met. After that, he helped me so much with my rescue.
I’m so sorry and RIP Khloe.

Tonight it is a sad night for Doxie Haven. We lost Darcy. She was found years ago on Mesker Park Dr by AC. I took her and got her vetted. She had been seriously over bred. She was a bossy little one and very independent. She never liked anyone that came to adopt her so she stayed with me. She was about 5 then. Today she was almost 14 and was in kidney failure. I had to make the choice.
I miss her already!

Just wanted to inform you that another Doxie Haven dog has passed. Duke,who was approximately 16 years old crossed last night. Justin W Dauby took him several years ago, loved and spoiled him.

Doxie Haven has been quiet here lately. Since we lost Issy in May not much going on. Bacci, my bichon and dachshund mix has been going for cryosurgery on a tumor on his chin. Today’s visit will be his 4th treatment. I won’t put him under anesthesia at his age (he’s 14) so we’re trying this. At least it’s not seeping anymore and it is a bit smaller too. It doesn’t seem to bother him and he eats and drinks with no problems.
He also wears an inflatable ecollar but that is because he chews his feet. He doesn’t mind it. When people say something I just say he carries his own pillow around.

My heart goes out to Peanut tonight and her Mom, Koren. Peanut will be passing soon with the help of their vet.
Peanut was a former Doxie Haven pup! She has had a great long life and was spoiled rotten!
She has congestive heart failure and are not prolonging her suffering.
Please say a prayer for Peanut and her family.

Been a bit lost last week. Issy, my 14 year old died of kidney failure after dealing with it for 3 years. She’s greatly missed.

🚨🚨 we have interest and think we found someone ❤️🚨🚨

Our baby needs a hospice situation. She came from a shelter in Indiana. We are very familiar with dachshunds they do not do well in shelter environment. She was vetted today. She is around 14 years old. She is blind/ deaf. She has a tumor in her shoulder. She needs a soft landing to crash for the rest of her days. She gets along great with other dogs. She’s a good girl. We would like a home with one or two dogs would be okay.

We take care of the vet bills unless someone wants to adopt her.

For all of you that contact me wanting a dachshund to adopt, I can give you other rescues to adopt from but the dogs that are here now are all seniors and will stay here until they die.
They are comfy here and I know all of their idiosyncrasies and can handle them. They are a family and all get along with their brothers and sisters.
Please adopt a rescue!

Thank you Meredith Cleaver for sending me this paw print of Keenan after he passed to remember him. I loved this boy and he had the most amazing home!
