Flash is ready to leave Evansville Animal Care & Control!!!

Flash is going to need a special home that will give him the love and care he deserves!! Glad was adopted from EACC back in April, was found as a stray and owner did not reclaim. He is VERY picky about the men in his life and HAS to have a meet and greet if you are interested in foster or adoption. He also needs a home with no other animals. Flash is VERY sweet once he gets to know you, knows sit, shake, and lay down. He is also neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, but does need some work on leash manners.

He can leave with a foster or be adopted but HAS to have a meet and greet for he needs someone who understands the German Shepherd breed, has time to work with Flash & has the home & yard needed for his energy. If you are interested in adopting Flash, please stop by for a meet n greet. If you’re interested in fostering Flash, reach out to your rescue of choice. His adoption fee is $150. For more information please stop by Evansville Animal Care & Control or call 812-453-6479.

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog. When an owner says stuff like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water gets to die.

Every day in rescue we adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues and shelters are the tiny rescue boats.

The ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and a$$hats who won’t spay/neuter.

The Story

Many people have asked me “why do you do what you do” or “how can you rescue” and I just wanted to be able to share my story with you. See, it all started with a Yorkie named Buddy......this lil guy was the love of my life, my best friend, confidant and was my world. Since I was not fortunate to have kids, he was my boy! He went every where with me - to sell real estate, visit friends, boating and, you name it and he was there, right beside me. My Lil Buddy lived to be 2 weeks shy of his 16th birthday and before he passed away, I made a promise to him that his memory would live on furever, through my rescue. Well, he passed away in 2014, and it has been my mission, to honor him, by saving and rescuing dogs, raising awareness for local shelters and preaching to Rescue, Adopt & Don’t Shop. I decided it was time, that I take the next step in my journey, to honor Buddy and start a program where I go out into the community, make you aware of the many rescue shelters, assist those shelters with financial needs and highlight an adoptable pet, each and every week, so rescues can find their furever homes. This is how this page, Buddy’s Promise - Furever Home, was born...and, it all started because of a beloved lil Yorkie named Buddy!
