The Common Dog

Louis the #wheaten #poodle mix has a lot goin’ on. He has an unhealthy attachment to his owner, has been unsuccessful at both the vet and the groomer, redirects back at the leash and the person holding it, and has even started going forward at male guests at home making contact with their clothing 🚨 The care plan for this #doodle involves a TON of self confidence and independence work, socialization, and grooming desensitization. He’ll of course also learn general and leash obedience, along with so much more. 🐾 Follow along as Louis works hard to make his Momma proud

Axel was introduced to the big boy tub today! 🫧 All of our puppy board and trains have grooming desensitization built into their training programs. This early introduction to grooming helps them later down the road so that they’ll be confident while being handled and in the groom room! Tubby time and nail trims shouldn’t be scary! Yesterday was Ace’s last day of #ecollar conditioning!💯 This guy is so much fun to work with and is truly a pleasure to have in class 🍎! We’re only able to take his training to the next level like this because his pawrents have done SO much work at home with his obedience work and by maintaining clarity and consistency across the board. 🚨You need to have the basics down. We cannot stress this enough!! Yesterday we paid a visit📍to our #boardandtrain alum Pepper! Here, Olive helped practice some real world reactivity “omg” moments👀…lets be real we all know that stomach dropping feeling of an off-leash dog surprising/rushing you while walking with your #reactive pup! The guesswork of what Pepper thought she SHOULD do (aka react) was taken out of the equation once her handler told her what she was SUPPOSED to do (obedience and focus) 💪 Putting this #toypoodle into work mode is the best for her mind, behavior, and relationship with her people! Yay Pepper!!

This week, Kiki hit a regression in her training and started trying to aggress toward Princess again. Laura adjusted their reintegration protocal and after Kiki took them 2 steps backward, Laura helped guide them 3 steps forward 💓 Here theyre pack walking calmly and focused and then practicing these behaviors at structured liberty while in their pens. Both Kiki and Princess were able to fall asleep while sharing space and facing each other. HUGE steps!!#yorkie #dogtraining #siblings
