📢We are proud to announce that we have added another doctor to our practice; please welcome Dr. Coleman (pictured here with her youngest troublemaker Merlin)!

🩺 Dr. Coleman grew up in rural Connecticut where she first experienced veterinary medicine as a volunteer in a local clinic and agricultural classes while in high school. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut in Animal Pathobiology. She moved to Washington prior to entering the Peace Corps. She was placed in Guatemala to aid farmers with animal husbandry. After returning, she became a licensed veterinary technician and worked for a boarded veterinary surgeon for many years. With the support of her husband, she graduated from Washington State University with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.🐾She appreciates all aspects of veterinary medicine but is most passionate about surgery. With her loving husband, they share a home with 1 senior Shiba Inu and 3 rambunctious cats. 🐱🐶

🐾 November is National Senior Pet Month! 🐾

Let's celebrate the wisdom, charm, and companionship our senior pets bring us every day. As they grow older, their needs evolve, and it’s our turn to keep their golden years as vibrant as ever! Here’s how:

✨ Regular Check-Ups: Catch health issues early with routine vet visits. 🩺Bloodwork: Essential for monitoring overall health. 🏃Gentle Exercise: Short walks keep them happy and fit. 🥕Healthy Diet: Ask us about the best nutrition plan.🦷Dental Care: Regular check-ups and brushing are key. 💙Pain-Free Living: Talk to us about joint care, pain management and the latest products to help.

Celebrate the rockstars they are:

Make a cozy, non-slip space at home.
Stick to routines they love.
Share those cuddle pics & memories!

Let’s make these senior years the best yet!

We are here until 4 PM today to kick off Halloween! We hope everyone has a fun, safe holiday—and that goes for our furry friends too! 🐶👻

Chocolate Toxicity - A Real Fright for Pets!
As you celebrate, please keep in mind that chocolate can be dangerous for dogs. Here are some important tips to keep your pets safe:

🚫 No Chocolate for Pets: Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, both toxic to dogs. Even small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhea, rapid breathing, or even seizures.

👁️ Candy Out of Reach: Keep all Halloween candy far from your pet’s reach. They’re masters at sniffing out sweets!

🏡 Secure the Trash: Dispose of candy wrappers securely. Dogs might be drawn to them, and swallowing wrappers can cause serious issues.

🐾 Watch for Symptoms: Look for restlessness, fast heart rate, panting, trembling, or excessive thirst. If you suspect your dog has eaten chocolate, call us at 425-742-4444, call your local ER, or contact ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center.

🕸️ Stay Safe & Happy Halloween! 🕸️

🐾 National Pit Bull Awareness Day

On the last Saturday of October, we celebrate National Pit Bull Awareness Day—a day dedicated to shifting perceptions about pit bulls and educating others on the truth of these loyal, loving companions.

How Can You Make a Difference?

Volunteer: Help exercise or socialize shelter pitties. They’re one of the most common dogs in shelters, and they often suffer from overcrowding.

Educate: Pit bulls are often mislabeled and misunderstood. Many people call any bully-breed dog a "pit bull," but the American Pit Bull Terrier is an established breed with distinct standards.

Advocate: If your area has breed-specific legislation (BSL), consider contacting local officials to provide education and promote fair treatment for all breeds.

Share Your Story: If you’ve been lucky enough to have a pit bull in your life, share the love! Personal stories help break down stereotypes and inspire more understanding.

🌟 Share a photo of your pit bull (or bully breed) in the comments, and tell us what makes them special. Let’s fill our feed with adorable pittie smiles and help break down stereotypes, one wagging tail at a time!

Let's work together to show how amazing these dogs are! 🐾💙 Below are some staff Pitties showing off their soft side.

🌟 Meet Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs)

Last week we celebrated staff appreciation, and now it's time to introduce the incredible team that makes our clinic run smoothly! Let's start with the Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) and what makes them so essential. 🩺🐾 Chrissy has been here at PPVC for over 2 years and has been in vet med for over 20 years! Becky is our newest hire, but she comes with over 10 years of vet med experience! These two lead the charge!

What Does an LVT Do?
LVTs are licensed professionals with specialized medical training who work closely with veterinarians to provide top-quality care for pets. LVTs are often compared to nurses in human medicine for their vast knowledge, technical skills, and compassionate care. 💓

The path to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Washington, here's what it takes:

1. Complete an accredited veterinary technology program (usually a 2-year associate degree).
2. Pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE), a comprehensive test that covers everything from anesthesia to lab procedures.
3. Obtain licensure through the state and complete continuing education annually to stay updated on the latest in veterinary medicine.

Our LVTs do so much to keep pets healthy and happy and we couldn’t operate efficiently without them—stay tuned as we introduce more of the fantastic team behind the scenes! 🐕🐾

🐾 Survival Mode: Activated! 🐾

As we wrap up Veterinary Technician Week, we’re sending our crew off with their very own Vet Med Survival Kits! 🎒 These kits are packed with everything they need to crush each day, handle any challenge, and purr-severe through even the busiest moments. 🧡Because in the world of vet med, our techs are the ultimate survivors!

From keeping their cool under pressure to rolling with the punches, our techs show incredible strength and compassion every single day. These little reminders are just a token of our appreciation for their big hearts and unstoppable dedication. 💪💖

To our LVTs and Assts: You are the real lifesavers of our clinic! Thank you for everything you do!

🍕 You’ve stolen a pizza our hearts! 🍕

Today, we celebrated our slice-tacular team with a pizza party because no matter how you slice it, this crew is the best! 😍

From keeping the clinic running smoothly to delivering top-notch care, our staff is crust-worthy in every way. We wouldn’t be the same without their dedication and teamwork – they always rise to the occasion! 🍕💪

Thanks for being the perfect topping to this team. We’re cheesy with gratitude! 🧀❤️
