and Tremont St. Community Gardens) in Everett, MA. ECG works towards food justice and health equity in Everett by creating spaces across the city for growing food and engaging in equitable food policy planning. Dear ECG Customers, Friends, Neighbors, Partners, and Supporters,

Thank you for your concern and support following the unexpected demolition of our Broadway Farm yesterday. We knew we had to vacate the space due to the City’s planned construction at Old Everett High School, and had requested updates for over a month on when we could work to relocate our beds and equipment. We received no response until we were informed on Thursday that the beds would be dismantled and taken away on Friday at 9:30am. When our team arrived at 8:15am on Friday to salvage materials, the beds had already been dismantled, and the area was being flattened.

We are deeply disheartened, as we had hoped to invite our community to help carefully clear the farm and honor the past three years of growing and distributing fresh, affordable produce from that wonderful space. Unfortunately, that opportunity is now lost.

Despite this setback, our commitment to urban farming remains strong. We will continue operating our Northern Strand Community Farm and plan to open for the season this spring. Please follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter to stay updated.

We know some people are far from their relatives and it may be difficult to feel at home during this time but hope that ECG helps bridge that barrier and we make you feel welcomed in our community.

Estimados clientes, compañeros y seguidores,

Nos gustaría informarle de que Everett Community Growers permanecerá cerrado los días 28 y 29 de Noviembre en observancia de las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias y el Día Nacional de Luto. Este breve cierre permitirá que nuestro equipo disfrute de una merecida oportunidad para descansar y pasar tiempo de calidad con sus seres queridos. Dear Valued Customers, Partners, and Supporters,

We would like to inform you that Everett Community Growers will be closed on November 28th and 29th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday and National Day of Mourning. This brief closure will provide our team with a well-deserved opportunity to rest and spend quality time with their loved ones. In acknowledgement of the National Day of Mourning, we would like to share this tool for you to learn about whose land you live on. Which can be found through the link in our bio.

Additionally, we will be closed from December 22nd through January 1st in observance of the December holiday season.

During these closures, our staff will not be available to respond to emails, as they will be taking time to recharge and prepare for the exciting work ahead in 2025. We appreciate your patience and look forward to continuing our efforts with renewed energy in the coming year.

Your Voice Matters! Our team is conducting a new research study on climate-related risks to gentrification, and we want to hear from community members like you! This study uses participatory action research, which means you will be an active part of the research process from start to finish.

Why is this Important?
Climate gentrification occurs when communities are displaced due to climate change impacts like rising sea levels and extreme weather events. Our goal is to understand these impacts and work together to find solutions that benefit everyone.

Last Wednesday, we held the inaugural MIT Energy in Action Workshop of the series, welcoming over 30 community members. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Dwaign Tyndel, the Executive Director of Alternatives for Community Environment (ACE), as well as Dr. Mariana Arcaya, Dr. Christoph Reinhart, and their students. It was a pleasure to collaborate with members of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and to host them in our community. Thank you to everyone who participated. Dear ECG Customers, Friends, Neighbors, and Supporters

It is with great disappointment and sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of our farm stand and order ahead pickups for the rest of the season.

Our Broadway farm was vandalized last week, leaving many of our crops completely destroyed. We have reported this to the Everett Police Department, and they are actively investigating. Despite our best efforts to manage theft at our other farm, Northern Strand, the damage has left us without enough crops between the two locations to continue our weekly farm retail operations for the remainder of the season.

We are truly saddened by this turn of events, as serving our community through fresh, local produce has been our mission since the beginning.
We appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time, and we look forward to coming back stronger in the future.

We’ve compiled a list of alternative locations near Everett where you can find healthy produce. Many of these locations accept SNAP, WIC Coupons, Senior Farmers Market Coupons, and are HIP Vendors. Last week ECG and La Comunidad Inc. Staff met with Professors and Students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In preparation for our upcoming Energy In Action Workshop series. Our first workshop will be next Wednesday, October 16th from 6-8pm. We will be hosting our workshop at St. Therese which is located at 801 Broadway, Everett MA.
