Why we keep the barn unheated - although I do admit we close the big barn doors to keep our staff as comfortable as they can be during the winter

Willie, Turkey, and Ariel celebrated the New Year and their aging up with a carrot. Willie is now considered 28 years old or 80.6 years old in human years. Turkey is 22 or 64.8 years and Ariel is now 21 or 62.4 human years old. We are so thankful that our horses are in such good health as they age ❤️- let’s hope it’s the same for us ;)

Our friends, Daniel and Corina thought of us as they had some rubber mats to donate- well our girls went from mud and soggy straw to living the life with new pads and dry straw- thank you our honorary hen godparents- Waffles and the girls are so appreciative ❤️🐓as are us ❤️

You know what they say- out with the old and in with the new! We took it to heart today and decided to remove two of the boys’ (roosters’) spurs. It is and isn’t an easy thing but Bonnie was willing and Rusty and Nugget needed it done. Now they’re chillin’ in their separate man caves for the night - if you’re still reading- it’s a quick twist with a pair of channel locks -and the boys were fine ❤️🐓

Our Wednesday walker, Margaret shared her appreciation for the park, barn, animals, and the barn staff on her “weekly walks in nature”. These kind words and the friendships that the staff and I have with so many people are what really brings joy- life is about making connections with others, their smiles become ours, the awe and laughter from visiting with the animals helps us to see the awe in nature; all of this reminds us that we are one big family and that we share a responsibility to be stewards to each other, the land, and of course all the animals that live there as well as our own pets and wildlife ❤️❤️❤️

What a gift- our Corgi friends, mom and dad, Marina and John and fur babies, Ozzy and Princess, brought treats and toys for the cats 😻, donuts for the staff and a very generous gift card for pizza from Giordano’s for a staff party- we are so thankful and blessed to have so many friends at the barn ❤️ Thank you and Merry Christmas Corgis and family
