Still making New Year's resolutions? How about one that gives back in spades: Helping rescue/save a dog!

There are many ways you can do this. Fostering is our biggest need. When you foster a dog or a cat:

🐾 You help get them out of an often terrible situation
🐾 Help them on their path to find a forever home by providing a safe, loving environment
🐾 Teach them socialization and what love is
🐾 Help to train them, and make them more adoptable
🐾 Free up space in shelters
🐾 Allow you to assess if you're ready for pet ownership
🐾 Potentially bring joy and companionship into your life while making a positive impact on an animal's life ❤

EAPL is by your side through the entire process. We cover medical care and have food, beds, crates, etc. for our fosters. We are there to help with training issues and will do everything we can to help find a Forever for your foster.

We are ALWAYS in need of fosters. Right now we still desperately need a foster for Shiloh. Hazel needs a foster too and we have one puppy (Big boy) we're trying to fly out Saturday we still need a foster for! If you are interested and don't see the perfect dog, reach out. Legend, Lilac and Lenny are all looking for their Forevers!! These three month old lab mixes were bottle-fed by EAPL volunteers when momma could no longer take care of them. Look at them now! The Cat Room at Chow Down in Evergreen is officially back open for business! Newbies Brownie and Jingle are already making themselves at home. Later this morning, six new cats (including Ricco) are arriving and Elsie and Tiara are coming back to rule the roost.

Meet Gizmo and Peanut. They are 13 yr old bonded chi mix brothers. They have been through a lot in their years but are still so sweet! Both of them were attacked by a large dog when they were younger. Gizmo walks sideways from it and Peanut lost vision in his one eye. They both get around great and are in no pain. They both have similar personalities. They love to snuggle and will follow you just about everywhere you go! They need a home that they can live out their retirement years as they have a lot of life to live still! They are active in the backyard running around smelling things and love to lay in the sun! They both have heart murmurs and are on meds for it but it’s nothing crazy or expensive. They both love other animals and all people. They would do best in a home with children over 8yrs old. You guys, we have puppies 🐾 arriving on a Pilots N Paws flight this Saturday-there is ONE more we need a foster for before he can fly his way to Colorado freedom with his siblings! This big boy is largest of the bunch, around 17 pounds. Playful and sweet, and so cute when he runs because he’s a little clumsy. Isn't he just adorable? Reminder about New Year Eve and our fur-babies!

Please remember that many of our sweet fur babies are frightened by fireworks!

Here are a few tips to keep them safe:

~ Make sure all doors and windows are securely closed.
~ Consider a Thundershirt jacket (or similar) if your pet is prone to fearfulness.
~ Make their crate, or other favorite hiding spot, if readily available.
~ Keep you pets in a separate, quiet, low-activity room when entertaining.
~ Ensure your pet's microchip information is up-to-date and they have a readable ID tag.
~ Make sure your property is free of debris before you let your pet back outdoors.

Meet Apollo!!

What a story: Apollo belonged to the local hoarder who said that he disappeared for a couple of days and came back limping with something wrapped around his left hind leg. One of our fosters has befriended the hoarder and he surrendered Apollo to her to get medical treatment. The leg had to be amputated but he gets along well with just the 3 legs! Apollo is 1yr old, gets along with other cats and is fully vetted. Apollo will be making his debut at the EAPL Cat Adoption Center on Dec. 30.

This adorable little dude is still looking for his forever!

Kaiser is a sweet, energetic, playful, happy-go-lucky puppy. His quirky demeanor will keep you smiling. His favorite activity is long walks and he would make a perfect hiking or running buddy. He loves life in Colorado and can’t wait to get out to explore with his forever family.

Kaiser is great with other dogs and loves to play tug-of-war with his foster brother. He’s also happy to entertain himself with a bone or squeaky toys.

After a day of romping, Kaiser loves to crawl right into your lap to nap. He might even fall asleep there. He loves people and greets his foster family with a wiggly tail and sweet puppy eyes every time he sees them.

Kaiser is 4 month old lab mix, neutered and up to date on his shots. He is working on and making great progress with potty training. He is very food motivated, which is helping him learn everything a puppy needs to know.

Kaiser has the cutest tail with a white tip at the end, little white toes, and the most adorable wrinkles and ears. Perfect little puppy.

**We can't handle the cuteness!! Meet Utah!!!**

Utah is a German Shepherd mix who came to EAPL all stitched up. He had a huge gash in his side and on his head from some kind of incident. We really aren't aware of what happened to this little boy as he presents happy, healthy and ready to play! He's a smart one who is crate trained, house trained and loves to cuddle!! Good with kids, dogs and people. He would love another dog in the home, regular exercise and a home who will continue to train him. He loves his walks, playtime and treats!

Good news-we have a temporary foster for Hazel, but we need a little help.

Hazel will arrive on New Year's Eve (A perfect day to start her new life!!) at 1 at PetCo, 3511 No Salida Court in Aurora. Her foster has to work that afternoon, but can get her at 7pm. Can anyone help by picking Hazel up at 1 and fostering her for 6 hours? Email us at [email protected] if you can help!

FYI Hazel is arriving with her brother Bixby (who we also have a foster for!!). Hazel needs a long term foster and there is one more sibling waiting for a foster as well! Let us know if you can foster!

Guys, we had such great engagement for Nina. Over 100 likes, 37 shares and so many views. But we haven't had one person apply to foster her! We really want to help this precious girl (and all the others we're trying to help) out.

Fostering is an amazing and wonderful experience. Yes, it can be hard to let go, but when you send a dog that was in a shelter or on a euth list off to a loving family, it's the greatest feeling in the world.
