Urgent Foster Plea – Two “Friends of Retrievers” Who Need Us Now
Many of you know about RROC’s Friends of Retrievers program — our way of opening our arms to dogs who may not be retrievers, but are family all the same. Today, we have two very special pups who desperately need that extended family.
These two dogs do not need to be fostered or adopted together — but we must commit to taking both, or neither. Their situation is time-sensitive, and we’re hoping the right foster homes or adopters are out there in our wonderful community.
Both are four years old, sweet-natured, and good with other dogs. They came from a loving owner whose health declined to the point where she could no longer care for them. They are confused, grieving, and in danger of ending up in a shelter if we cannot step in quickly.
The Girl – Shetland Shepherd Mix (32 lbs)
She’s heartbreakingly adorable — the perfect size for someone wanting a smaller companion. She’s gentle, submissive with other dogs, and clearly misses her person and the comfort of home. She needs reassurance, soft voices, and someone who can help her feel safe again.
The Boy – Collie (55–60 lbs)
If you’re a Collie lover, this sweet boy will steal your heart instantly. He’s playful, affectionate, and has that big, goofy “forever puppy” energy. He’s everything a Collie should be — bright, loyal, and eager to love.
If your heart is tugging even a little… please listen.
If you know someone who adores Shelties, Collies, or gentle souls in need… please share.
If you’ve ever thought about fostering… this is the time.
We cannot help them unless we find placement for both.
Please reach out ASAP if you can foster or if you have ideas for safe, loving homes.
Let’s make sure these two beautiful dogs land softly. 🧡
