With Halloween aproaching this week we want to give you some tips to keep your pets safe!
🎃 Keep a close eye on candy! No sweets for your sweet pups!
🎃 Keep collars and ID on pets just in case they escape. Spooked pets can get lost!
🎃 Make sure all wrappers are thrown away!
🎃 Be mindful, some pets might be stressed out. Keeping them in a quiet room might be best!

Give us a call if you have any questions or concerns!

This sweet girl was found in a ditch near dead in Lawson last week. She is on the mend and gaining her strength back. Luckily her owners had a microchip implanted and we were able to find them. She got scared and ran away during a move and has been missing for over a month. We are currently trying to get her healthy and back to them. Microchipping is a cheap and easy way to increase the chances your baby gets home to you if they get lost.

No adoption fees for adult pets through this weekend at KC Pet Project! Adopt a furry family member today!

KC Pet Project is AT CAPACITY. 260 new dogs have arrived since the beginning of the month! We have NO open kennels and have filled all indoor play rooms and our Training & Behavior team's room with temporary kennels. We're doing everything we can to care for this many dogs, but we can't do this without our community's help.

Starting on Tuesday, September 13th through Sunday, September 18th, all adult dogs at KC Pet Project locations and in foster homes will be fee-waived. This is part of the National Adoption Weekend through Best Friends Animal Society. You can adopt a new best friend and won't have to pay for an adoption fee to take them home.

Please share our posts, tell your friends, or come to the shelter to meet some great dogs. We need you now Kansas City!

See available pets at http://kcpetproject.org or download our free mobile app.

We will be open from 8-12 on Monday, September 5 for boarding and tech appointments only. Have a safe and happy Labor day!

Check those labels! Birch Sugar, aka Birch Sap or Xylitol, causes a dangerous drop in dogs' blood sugar. If you suspect your dog has ingested xylitol, seek veterinary attention immediately!

Labeled as “xylitol” within the ingredients list for most products, the same plant-derived substance can also be identified as “birch sugar” or “birch sap” in others.

Stretch

Stretch is a sulcata tortoise that was found near Maple Woods Community College and brought to our clinic. Sulcatas are African tortoises and are not able to survive in cold weather. Stretch lives at our clinic during the winter months, and at Dr. Watkins’ house over the summer.
