ITS TIME FOR NH GIVES and usually we use this event to highlight some of the cool lifesaving work we’ve done over the 12 months, but this year we have a more pressing matter.
Meet Maxwell. And meet Maxwell’s testicles.
Maxwell was surrendered recently and while we knew he wasn’t neutered when we agreed to take him in, we didn’t know the… size… of the issue until he strolled out of his carrier.
Maxwell is a Sphynx. The breed is prone to a hereditary heart condition called HCM where the heart is thickened and struggling to pump blood. HCM often has no external signs and the only way to know for sure is with a heart ultrasound.
Maxwell will need this done before his neuter to make sure he’s safe for anesthesia (and good lord I really hope he is, both for his general wellbeing and because I cannot look at these testicles any longer)
So yes, your donation during NH Gives not only helps a whole slew of local cats and kittens recover from various ailments to find their forever homes, but they will also help eliminate what are quite possibly the largest, ickiest cat testicles on this side of the Mississippi. A noble cause.
