We hope you're having a great day with your furry friends! Given the influx of clients and patients we are welcoming to the practice, we'd like to remind you all of a few things:

1: We are closed 2 weeks of the year, the week before Labor Day, and the week between Christmas and New Years.

2: Given the current demand and volume of clients we are seeing, Well Visits are typically booking 2-3 weeks out, non-emergent sick visits are booking a week out, and emergency appointments are usually booked for the day by 9 or 10 AM. While we will always try to fit in appointments in urgent need of care, we may not be able to offer a traditional sick visit, but instead a drop off appointment and in some cases we may need to refer you to our partners in care at the local emergency clinics.

3: Refills may take up to 3 days to fill.

4: In addition to our two weeks above we are closed for Memorial Day, The 4th of July, Labor day, and Thanksgiving day through that weekend. Many of these holidays are times where fireworks are present. If your pet has never had medications for firework anxiety and you would like to get medications for your pets, please call 2-3 weeks in advance so that we can get you scheduled for a consult. If your pet has had prescription medications for storms or fireworks please make sure that they are up to date and that we have seen them in the last year, or we will not be able to refill scripts before seeing them. For the patients who need refills, please allow up to 3 days for prescriptions.

5: Our phones have been very busy, if we are unable to answer your call during business hours please leave a message with your name, your pet's name, and your phone number and we will contact you before we leave for the evening.

6: We recognize that our estimates are often very broad, particularly if we have not seen a patient before. We also tend to estimate high, as we would rather be below or at the low end of the estimate rather than beyond our high end of our estimate. We are also seeing increased costs on everything in the office from our printer paper to IV lines to medications. While we try to mitigate these costs by comparing suppliers, costs are on the rise across all industries.

7: Rehabilitation intakes are scheduling 2-3 weeks out, and we recommend as best practice to book 2-3 rehab appointments ahead of your current appointment to avoid being unable to stay on your pet's regimine.

8: Housecall appointments are still available, however these are primarily scheduled for end of day and our arrival times may vary or be delayed due to emergent patients in the office. They are also booking about 3-4 weeks out.

9: We are working on getting in an associate veterinarian to help with the increased demand but that will take until May or June of next year at the earliest.

Thank you for your understanding.
Doc Shannon and the EVC Crew.

Do your dogs have short noses? Do they snore? Do they pant in cool weather? If you answered yes to any of these questions they are at high risk for heat stroke this week. Please keep them inside. If they have not had surgery to correct their tiny nostrils, elongated soft palates, etc then they are even more at risk. We have already seen 3 heat stroke dogs Since Monday. Please be careful.

When your cat won’t stay still for selfies they look like an AI generated cat. This is Boba. She came to us last summer all the way from Buffalo (I hear Springsteen singing Erie Canal as I typed that) along with her siblings. She was determined from the first day to be mine and so she is.

18 years ago this week, I signed an agreement to purchase the Exton Pet Clinic.

My third and most demanding child, I am so happy to have served the pets of Exton and its surrounds for all these years. June 6th will mark our 18 year purchase anniversary. I think we need to start planning a party!

Currently behind the office. Route 100 has gone from wet and people going 55+ to snow covered with accidents in the last hour ( it’s 7:40 am). Plows haven’t been seen yet. Please stay safe. We slept here last night so can help if your pet can’t wait, but please be safe.

Update: thank you to those who have sent in donations for Emily M Bouret and Amara as they continue on this journey of healing for Emily. As per usual the state has denied their disability claim and she has filed an appeal but the needs remain. The therapies are expensive. The next mortgage payment is due. If you can find a few dollars to help it would go along way.

Her Venmo is -N-Amara
There is now a go fund me (link in the comments) but they take out extra fees so she gets less. And we are still accepting cash, checks, and gift cards here at the office.

Thank you to all of you who have been following and asking about our Emily’s medical issues. She is improving but the doctor says she will be out for at least 2 more months. Her medical bills and the state denying her medical assistance and being unable to work have depleted her savings and she is struggling. We are doing what we can to help but if you are wanting to help, walmart gift cards, wawa cards, general gift cards, cash, checks can all be dropped off at the clinic for her. If you private message us we can also give you her CashAp, PayPal, and Venmo Links. Here is a photo of her with her daughter Amara from before all this started and of us from our stay in May at HUP.

Our Story

Established in 1991 as the Exton Pet Clinic by Dr. Robert Streitel, the Exton Vet Clinic has been providing care to the pets of our region for 29 years. We strive to offer personalized high quality care to the dogs and cats of Chester County and surrounds. We offer medicine, surgery, dentistry, laser therapy and house calls. Limited Boarding available for Cats requiring ongoing medication. Our team is committed to providing the best care possible to your pets and giving back to our community through service and charitable acts.

Dr. Stanek has owned and operated the practice since June 6, 2006. She is a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. She is the mom to two teenagers, a German Shepherd Dog, and 6 cats. She is termed grandma by one dog and 3 other cats. After a fight with Metastatic Amelanotic Malignant Melanoma in 2019, she is now cancer free and thriving and back to seeing patients and doing her full surgical load. She dedicates 34-40 hours a week to her patients and clients and spends an additional 10 plus hours doing the business management side of practice ownership. When not working she enjoys gardening, knitting, sewing, quilting, reading and long bike rides with her husband.

We are currently expanding our hours and capacity to better serve our clients needs. We are working to accomplish this through the use of skilled relief doctors while we work to add a second full time veterinarian.

Emily Ramos is our head veterinary technician. She has over 15 years experience as a certified veterinary technician. When she is not working with us, she spends her time with her daughter, 2 cats and a dog. She enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time with her extended family and friends.
