In Celebration of DTCCC's 50th Anniversary we want to celebrate the dogs that impact our lives and help make us who we are!

Today's dog is Sadie Rose MACH17 Sadie MXG4 MJS5 MXP3 MXPB MJP2 MJPB XF CGC(6/23/2002 - 3/9/19).
Sadie Rose is loved by Linda Morgan, and was named after an Amish girl that her family met while camping.

Sadie Rose and Linda started Basic Manners in 2003 and Agility training at DTCCC in 2004 with Denise. They started competing in 2005 and earned her first MACH in 2008.

Sadie Rose loved all treats, but as she got older Black Strap Molasses out of a squeeze tube was her favorite treat after he agility runs.

Sadie Rose didn't have one favorite toy, she loved anything with a squeaker.

More about Sadie Rose and her many accomplishments:
Sadie Rose Morgan my Amish Cocker of 17 years crossed to the Rainbow Bridge in 2019. She
was a “once in a lifetime” Agility Teammate and a best friend who loved unconditionally. I
believe she is running like the wind again playing with Casey, Sean and Nash and chasing all
the squirrels she can find. Her accomplishments in Agility are noteworthy-

Today's Dog is STRIKER! Loved by Dede Crough

Patchwork Don't Call Me Shirley "Striker"
Flyball: FM, MBDCh-S, NW2; L1E; L1V; L1I, RATN, Agility: CL1-H, NTD (Novice Trick Dog)10/28/2005 - 7/15/2019

Favorite Food: He was a Sheltie. Food was his favorite food.
Favorite Game: I can throw a frisbee because Striker loved to catch one.
Something Special: He was that unicorn dog: a bombproof rescue Sheltie! Loved everyone, especially little girls, and was happy everywhere he went. I was so lucky to have him.

At one CPE trial, Striker fell in love with the yellow tunnel. He would go in and stop so he could rub his shoulders along the inside. He didn't do that with the green or blue tunnels. In our final class of the trial, the dang yellow tunnel was straight and it still took a while (maybe 20 seconds) for him to come out of it. He missed the tire after that, so rather than complete the judge's course, I decided we'd get that tunnel. It took two more tries to get him to run straight through it, after which I gave him a ton of praise and we walked off the course to cheers and laughs.

Did you know that Birch Sugar, which is in so many of our foods, is Xylitol by a different name, and just as dangerous?

Labeled as “xylitol” within an ingredients list, the same plant-derived substance can also be identified as “birch sugar” in others.

With springtime here, it is time to think about Leptospirosis.

Spring is here! And with that comes a warning about Leptospirosis, a disease caused by infection with Leptospira bacteria.

All dogs are at risk of leptospirosis, regardless of age, breed, lifestyle, geographic location, time of year, and other factors. The following situations can increase that risk:

➡Exposure to or drinking from slow-moving or stagnant water sources, like ponds, rivers, lakes, or streams
➡ Roaming on rural properties (because of exposure to potentially infected wildlife or farm animals or urine-contaminated water sources)
➡ Exposure to wild animals (especially rodents) or farm animals, even if in the backyard
➡ Contact with other dogs (such as in urban areas, dog parks, or boarding or training facilities)

Puppies on new surfaces are like tiny adventurers discovering a new world!

Two paws up and tails wagging, they ran across air platforms feeling their bouncy material. Whether they’re zooming through agility equipment or leaping onto circus dog platforms, their energy is infectious.

Learning is fun!
