Colt is learning Impulse Control
Impulse Control... Leave the dropped food on the floor. (Filmed by an almost 8yo..lol) Started with placing kibble pieces on the floor, then later worked on dropping pieces. This is a build to skill. This takes a lot of work and proofing for a finished product.
Stepping things up with Colt!!
There is so many actions that build to achieve this. Sit, sit/stay, wait while door is being opened, wait while knocking, wait while person walks through, wait while person starts down steps... The finished product looks easy... But, like all good things, it takes time and consistency to achieve! ( next is for someone to be at the door I open) (2 min show here.)
Colt learns door safety!!
Wait at the door!! One of the worst things is having your dog run out of the door the minute it opens. This is a huge safety risk. Teaching your pup to wait at the door until released is a MUST!!
Colt and the "implied sit" (stay)
Implied Sit... The dog doesn't leave that position until released. (Also done with "Place" and "Down")
