The dog park is now closed for the winter...because of a frost heave in the small dog area the gate won't close and the large dog area has become a muddy mess and the grass won't grow there in the spring if it's allowed to keep getting torn up.

Murfee invites you out to the Howl-o-ween event at the Fur Haven Dog Park at 4:00 today. There will be trick-or-treating for all the dogs (no costume required) and prizes for the doggy costume contest

We're holding our 3rd annual Howl-O-Ween event at the Fur Haven Dog Park on Saturday Oct 26th 4:00 (rain date Oct 27th). Bring your pups for a fun Howl-O-Ween event set up just for them. The dogs will be able to trick-or-treat for doggy treats (no costume required). There will also be a doggy costume parade with prizes. Fun for pooches and their owners!

I went down this morning to sign up my Dog for welfare. At first the lady said, "Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare". So I explained to her that my Dog is mix in color, unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and has no frigging clue who his Daddy is. He expects me to feed him, provide him with housing and medical care, and feel guilty because he is a dog.
So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My Dog gets his first check Friday. Before you get offended this is just a joke...no pun intended...

The Caring Canines therapy dog group will be holding 2 events in Oct...a therapy dog workshop & Therapy dog testing. If that's something you'd like to do with your dog please contact me. Our therapy dogs support schools, nursing homes and the hospital

We finally found time between rain storms and the heat waves to re-lay and clean up the memorial bricks at the garden at the dog park...thank you Deborah Laiacona & Angela Kenny for helping me!

I need help...we just got 2 new Tether Tugs for the dog park (one for both areas) and I wasn't able to drive the tubes down far enough (they should only be an inch above the ground and they are 5-6" above). If anyone has a rubber mallet or a hammer and board and wants to give it a try I'd sure appreciate it! ...you can't strike the tube directly with a hammer or you'll ruin it.

The dog park is open from 7 a.m.-8:00 p.m. everyone needs to be out before the closing time. Maximum 2 dogs per owner in the dog park. If your dog is digging holes in the dog park you will be asked to leave and not return (this comes under the heading of "maintain control of your dog at all times" & "respect the dog park" in the dog park rules). Please pick up p**p before you leave and return the toys to the bins...the volunteer mowing the dog park doesn't want to ruin his equipment by running into deep holes or running over toys.

We've created a wonderful grassy area for the pups to play and want it to stay that way. Thank you for your cooperation!

UPDATE: The problem was a pack of 10 Husky dogs coming from Rutland taking over the dog park every night with only 3 handlers, who didn't have control. They were asked to leave and not return.

I'm extremely disappointed! Someone has let their dog or dogs did huge deep holes in the large dog area of the dog park. Hard to tell from the pics but several are over a foot deep. They've torn up big areas of the grass. I went over this morning to fill in as many of the holes as I could today instead of spending my time with my husband at the hospital...I didn't want a dog or person breaking a leg or ankle.

There is absolutely no excuse for a person to let their dog (s) destroy our lovely dog park! I'll be checking the footage on the camera and when I find out who allowed their dog to do this they will be banned from using the dog park. If you're there with your dog and see dogs doing this please speak up.
