It's getting chilly! 🥶Cold weather can affect your pet's joints, skin, activity, and routines. Here are a few tips to prepare your pet for wintertime:
- Provide a warm and cozy space off of the floor and away from drafts
- Sweaters or jackets are great for short-haired, small or senior pets
- Limit your pet's time outside in the extreme cold
- Some pets' nutrition needs might change during the winter. Talk to your vet if you think this might be the case.

Have questions? We’re always here to help!

Your pet's breath isn’t just stinky - it could be a sign of dental disease. Regular dental cleanings help keep plaque buildup, gum pain, and tooth decay at bay.

Let’s schedule a cleaning before the holidays! 🦷✨

Going out of town for the holidays? Or vacationing this winter? Give us a call to get a "Consent for Care" form on file for your pets. This will allow your pet sitter to seek treatment and make necessary care decisions if your pet has an emergency. It is a quick form that can be filled out from your phone and we will keep on file.

We know you'll miss each other, but we promise to give them all the snuggles, treats and fun that we can!

We have some of the most amazing rescues and animal shelters in the interior. They go above and beyond to provide medical care for pets in our community to give them another chance at life❤️ Consider donating, fostering, or just sharing their stories - you could help a pet find their forever family. We would love to see photos of your furry (or other) friends that have come into your life because of these wonderful groups. Our FNSB Animal Shelter kitty Leo always looking cozy 😸

Our Story

Krislyn DeLeon, DVM Scott Flamme, DVM Xiu Min Chen, DVM Ben Kuhn, DVM Emily Vaughan, DVM

Founded in 1971, Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital is committed to providing the very best veterinary care possible. Our eight veterinarians combine their expertise with state-of-the-art technology in our modern hospital to deliver veterinary medical care to the wonderful pets in Fairbanks. All of the staff at Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital understands the special bond between pets and their families, and strive to fulfill the needs of each client and each patient. Working together with our clients, we keep healthy pets healthy and help sick pets get better!

Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital was accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) in 1976. AAHA accreditation means that our hospital has voluntarily undergone close scrutiny to prove that we operate by the highest standards and provide the highest level of care possible. We have proven excellence in five areas as outlined by AAHA: quality of care, diagnostics and pharmacy, management, medical records and facility. We enjoy the challenge of reaching the benchmarks posed by AAHA, which ensures that we are up-to-date on changes in veterinary medicine.
