Today we have Mac N' Cheese for the Golden Heart "cutie of the day"! Mac recieved many chin scratches and love while in the clinic for his annual exam and routine blood work. He is such a gentle and sweet guy that we were sad to see him go home! See ya next time, buddy! 🧀

Everyone meet Danny, today's Cutie of the Day! Danny is an adorable 30 year old Yellow-Headed Amazon that was brought in for a beak & claw trim. He was an excellent bird for Dr. Meisel and we cannot wait to see this handsome parrot again! 🦜

Hello Summer! Something we all want to be saying this time of year, but this "Summer" is an 8 year old Labrador Retriever. Summer came in today for itchy ears. Ear issues can be common in Retrievers and (if left untreated) can lead to a hematoma which often requires surgical intervention. We hope Summer's ears find relief quickly! Keep smiling sweet Summer! 🌞

Cali is our cutie of the day! Cali came in due to joint soreness and showed us all that she has never met a person that wasn't a friend! This girl gently requested affection from everyone and we all were happy to oblige! We hope you find some comfort on your new regimen, Cali! 💜

Today's Cutie of the Day is Lucifer! This ultra sweet boy came in to see Dr. Meisel today for a neuter consultation and left with a new friend found in the basket of goodies in the lobby. Lucifer was not letting his new buddy out of his sight and made sure to carry it the entire visit. We can't wait to see this cutie again. Enjoy your new toy, Lucifer!

Meet Millie! Millie is a 1 year old Ferret that has slinked her way into the hearts of everyone! She came in today for a spay surgery with Dr. Meisel and did fantastic under anesthesia. Millie is now home getting lots of love an attention from her family. Heal quickly little Millie! 🌞

Golden Heart cutie of the day is Ramsey! Ramsey saw Dr. Eberle for a dental cleaning. While his eyes may say otherwise, this sweet boy was so well-behaved and calm. We hope nothing bet the best for handsome little Ramsey and hope he feels better soon! 🤎

Flint the Papillion is our cutie of the day! Flint came in to see Dr. Meisel today after throwing up some string from a dog toy. After some meds and plenty of snuggles from the staff, Flint left feeling much better! We hope you get well soon and make better snack choices, Flint! 💙

While you may have seen our vets while getting your pet's vaccines or addressing an ear infection, our doctors have special interests of all kinds!

Many know Dr. May loves mushing and has a soft spot for elderly sled dogs, but his passion in Veterinary Medicine reaches far and wide. He really enjoys the focus surgeries require and has gained a broad knowledge base for Canine Reproductive care.

Dr. Eberle has been a part of many rural Alaska vaccination & alteration clinics to provide care to communities that would otherwise go without. Though he has an altruistic spirit, his passion is surgery. He enjoys doing all procedures from routine spays to emergency surgeries.

Dr. Meisel is an advocate for routine preventive care, but her special interest is in small mammals and "pocket pets". Working through illnesses of rabbits, ferrets, and other small pets can be complicated as each species has their own nuances. Dr. Meisel enjoys the challenge that these species bring.

We are a small animal veterinary practice in Fairbanks Alaska.

Today's Cutie of the Day is Diesel!
This handsome boy has won the hearts of the entire Golden Heart Team! ❤️
Diesel came in feeling really lethargic and wasn't eating well. Dr. Meisel was very concerned and after running blood work, doing x-rays and a brief ultrasound, it was apparent that Diesel had a large mass on his spleen. This mass had ruptured and was bleeding into his abdomen causing him to become anemic. His very worried parents elected to have Dr. Meisel take him into emergency surgery to remove the spleen. Diesel did very well under anesthesia and was able to go home that same night. Today, Diesel came in to recheck his blood 2 weeks after surgery and he has improved so much! We all are so incredibly happy of this outcome and love seeing this sweet guy feeling his best!

Everyone, meet Hugo! Hugo was in for a routine neuter and quickly gained the hearts of all of us! He was absolutely doted on and was given snuggles from the whole team! We hope our little buddy heals quickly! 💙
