Hobart (A135770) is a 6-month-old Australorp Rooster who weighed just under 5 pounds on intake!

09/04/24 This handsome rooster is Hobart! Hobart was surrendered to the shelter because he was supposed to be a female, but as he aged, his owners realized that he was indeed a male. We encourage his next owner to research care requirements prior to adopting. We are heading into winter, so making sure you have an appropriate setup is important! If you have room for a rooster in your coop and are interested in meeting this fellow, please let us know!

09/04/24 We had a group of 8 wonderful rabbits surrendered to the shelter for adoption! If you are unfamiliar with rabbits, we encourage you to research care prior to adoption. They should have unlimited access to hay for their teeth and gi health, a measured amount of pellet food daily, and fresh greens! Enrichment is also important—providing them with rabbit-approved chews and mental enrichment is key! If you are interested in meeting Cherry or any of her friends, please let us know!

Lulu (A130290) is a 2-year-old female guinea pig who weighed 1.84 pounds on intake!

09/03/24 Little miss Lulu is back at the shelter and eagerly awaiting to find her new home. Sadly her friend Mumu passed away but Lulu was said to be doing well! Lulu was known to be fearful of small kiddos but does well with adults. She will even squeak when you make kissy noises at her! She was said to love her veggies and that bell peppers were a favorite! Lulu was said to enjoy the safety of her cage and did not enjoy outdoor adventures. Making sure she has a large enough enclosure to run around and explore in is important! If you are interested in meeting Lulu, please let us know!

03/01/23 These adorable little piglets are Lulu and Mumu. They are a bonded pair, so we are requiring that they be adopted together. If you are not familiar with guinea pig care we encourage you to research prior to enquiring about adoption. Guinea pigs should have unlimited access to timothy hay for their teeth and gi health, a measured amount of pellet food daily, and fresh greens. Guinea pigs lack the enzyme that creates vitamin c so this will need to be supplemented into their diet daily. Bell peppers, slices or oranges, or dark leafy greens make an excellent source of vitamin c. Lulu and Mum were described as shy but cuddly. They were said to come up and sniff their prior owner and then walk away or hide. If you are interested in meeting this cute little duo please give the shelter a call!

ADOPTED!

Nugget (A135738) is an 8-week-old heeler mix who weighed just over 10lbs at intake!

08/30/24 This handsome little dude is Nugget! Nugget was brought into the shelter due to no fault of his own. His previous owner was a young man who realized he didn't have the time to devote to a puppy. We are not 100% sure on Nugget's breed, so we have made our best guess. He does seem like he wi8ll grow up to be a large size dog. Nugget was not in his most recent home long, so he has not been introduced to much. He was said to be very affectionate, and he will still be within his socialization window until 12 weeks old, so the more he is positively introduced to the better! Enrolling him in a puppy class with a certified trainer would be a great place to start! If you are interested in meeting Mister Nugget, please give the shelter a call!

Ozzie (A135696) is a 7-month-old husky mix who weighed just over 33lbs at intake!

08/30/24 These handsome brothers are Zeus and Ozzie! These boys are pretty typical puppies and have a lot of energy! Ozzie is more outgoing than Zeus, but they are both pretty friendly pups. These boys have never been around children, babies or cats, and they have a lot of energy and can be vocal at times, so please use caution when introducing them to any kiddos or small animals. they were said to get along with other dogs, but Ozzie can sometimes be picky about the canine company he keeps. Make sure to do proper, slow introductions in a controlled manner. These boys can be rough when playing, and they have been known to jump on people and counters. In typical puppy fashion, they like to chew and have occasionally gotten into the trash when given the chance. Each pup could highly benefit from a basic obedience class with a certified trainer! Both Ozzie and Zeus were said to have chicken and pork allergies, so it will be important that their new owners keep them on a novelty protein diet (e.g. salmon, bison, vension, etc). If you are interested in meeting either Ozzie or Zeus, please give the shelter a call!

Cookie (A135679) is a 4-year-old DSH who weighed 10.47 pounds on intake!

08/26/24 This loveable cat is Cookie! Cookie was surrendered to the shelter because he has had litterbox issues his entire life. The shelter vet saw him to rule out any medical cause for this behavior. His urinalysis did come back positive for struvite crystals. He has been started on a prescription urinary diet (c/d) that he will need to stay on for the rest of his life. We are hoping that by giving him a fresh start in a new home combined with the prescription diet that he will thrive! As he settles into his new home he would also do his best to start off in a small area of the home and then slowly introduce him to more rooms. He should also have access to multiple litterboxes in his next home. Cookie was said to use his litterbox, just not consistently. Cookie does appear to be a very friendly and outgoing cat who was said to do well with everyone he meets including babies and children. He was also said to do well with dogs but has no history with other cats. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new potential friends! If you are interested in meeting Cookie, please let us know!

08/31/24 Miss Pearl is back at the shelter due to her previous owner moving and not being able to bring her along. In her most recent home, Pearl was said to mostly get along with other dogs but not all the time. Pearl was previously said to get along with other dogs, but she had originally come from a home where the other dogs were ones she had grown up with. It is possible that Pearl is selective about the canine company that she keeps. Please use caution when introducing her to other dogs. Fear Free Pets has great resources on introducing a new dog! Pearl was said to do well with children as young as 5, as wel as strangers. She can be rough when playing and has been known to jump on counters and chew. She is said to be kennel trained and housebroken and will come up to you to let you know she has to go out. If you are interested in meeting Miss Pearl, please give the shelter a call!

07/11/24 This darling pup is Pearl! Pearl is looking for her new family to love! Pearl grew up with kiddos in her last home and was said to love children. She can be weary of strangers and might bark at men but warms up quickly. Pearl was also said to have previously done well with other animals including dogs (playful), cats (cautious), and ducks(affectionate). Please ensure you are doing appropriate introductions with any and all new friends. Pearl was also said to be kennel trained and housebroken (she will ring a bell on the door or give you her paw). She was also said to be a very smart girl who generally minds well. She knows a variety of commands including come, sit, stay, wait, down, paw, mush, and woah. She was said to be harness-trained but does not enjoy spending extended periods of time outdoors. If you are interested in meeting miss Pearl and feel that she could be the right fit for you, please let us know!

Eowyn is AVAILABLE for adoption!

Eowyn (A135395) is a 5-year-old Malamute who weighed 50lbs at intake and weighed 62.0 lbs at her most recent weight check!

Medical update: As Eowyn's stay at the shelter has progressed and her energy levels have increased, care staff noticed an odd candence to her walk, so our shelter veterinarian had her sent out for hip x-rays. The x-rays showed evidence of hip dysplasia. At this time the vet recommends joint supplements, building up her muscle mass and keeping her at a healthy weight which will likely keep her condition manageable and comfortable. Due to her emaciated condition coming to the shelter, it is possible that her gait will improve with muscle from exercise. She may be a candidate for a surgical intervention later in life, but is not at this time. Eowyn also had a couple of fractured teeth removed courtesy of our amazing Shelter Fund. Unfortunately, this means she should not be given her beloved hard chew toys, but she may end of liking softer rubber toys just as much!

07/26/24 This beautiful girl is Eowyn! Eowyn was brought into the shelter as a stray, so we do not know her history. Eowyn arrived at the shelter in poor condition. It appeared that she had recently weaned pups, and she was severely underweight. She was checked by our shelter veterinarian who did not find evidence of any underlying medical issues and put her on a refeeding plan to get her back up to weight. Now that she has packed on some pounds, Eowyn is ready to find herself a new forever home! Eowyn has been very sweet and outgoing with all of the care staff at the shelter. She has done a wonderful job of keeping her kennel clean, so she may be housebroken! We do not know how she does with other animals, but she did come in with another malamute named Arwen and she has not seemed to mind her doggy neighbors when in her outside kennel. Malamutes can have a prey drive, so please use caution if introducing Eowyn to small critters, such as cats. We have noticed during her extended stay at the shelter that Eowyn LOVES toys, especially hard chew toys! If you are interested in meeting Miss Eowyn, please give the shelter a call!

Lucy (A135484) is a 2-year-old Alaskan Husky who weighed 35.4 pounds on intake!

08/29/24 Sweet Lucy is back at the shelter and eagerly awaiting her new home! Lucy was described as a shy but friendly dog with a sweet temperament. However, she was known to have a rough style of play. Lucy was said to be kennel trained but is not housebroken. She is looking for a patient owner who will have the time to work with her. She would also benefit from attending a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on her manners. Lucy was known to be a bit of a counter surfer and to get into the trash if unsupervised. Lucy was known to chase after the cat in her last home and would do best in a cat-free environment. She was said to do well with dogs but, again, has a rough play style. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with any and all new potential friends. She is an active dog and is looking for a home that can keep her both mentally and physically stimulated. If you are interested in meeting Lucy, please let us know!

08/07/24 This sweet girl is Lucy! Lucy was surrendered to the shelter with incomplete owner surrender paperwork, so she was initially held as a stray. Her former owner did note on the form that she was an inside/outside dog who had previously done well with children, other dogs, and cats. She has been an absolute delight at the shelter and seems to have a very loving personality. However, please keep in mind that introductions with new people and other animals should be made in an appropriate manner for success! We have also found that Lucy has done well at not having accidents in her inside kennel indicating that she may already be housebroken. She is eager to adventure outside and loves playing in the yard! We do not know if Lucy has any basic obedience training and we encourage her new owner to bring her to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on her manners! Lucy is an active breed that is looking for an owner who will be able to keep her both mentally and physically stimulated. She may even enjoy becoming a skijor buddy in the wintertime! If you are interested in meeting the fabulous Lucy Lou, please let us know!

Rufus has been ADOPTED!

Rufus (A135479) is an 8-year-old Toy Poodle who weighed 8.6 pounds on intake but was severely underweight and weighed 12.6lbs at his most recent check in!

08/26/24 Rufus is back from foster where he was able to gain weight and is looking great! While in foster he was said to be mostly housebroken but did mark in the home. We are hoping that neutering will help with this problem. Rufus was said to be very friendly in their home and did well with one of their other dogs. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions! Our shelter vet noticed a perineal hernia while performing Rufus' neuter, so he was sent out to have that repaired as well as a routine dental courtesy of our amazing Shelter Fund! Due to the additional surgery, it will be important for his new owners to keep Rufus on restricted exercise and in his cone for at least 2 weeks until he is fully recovered. If you are interested in meeting Rufus, please let us know!

08/07/24 This little guy is Rufus! Rufus arrived at the shelter as a stray and was in very poor health. He was malnourished, and his coat was severely matted. Rufus was started on a refeeding program to help him get back to his goal weight. He was also sent to the vet for a sedated full-body shave. Rufus was initially not overly trusting while at the shelter, but after a while, we were able to gain his trust! With his past unknown, we think he would do best in a home without small children. Rufus appears confident around other dogs at the shelter, but we do not know if he has ever lived with other animals. If you do plan on introducing him to potential new friends please ensure you do so in a slow, safe, and controlled environment. Since he was malnourished, he eats his food very quickly and we recommend giving his meals in a slow feeder and feeding separate from other animals in the home. Rufus has done an excellent job at keeping his kennel clean and appears to be housebroken. He was found running at large, so it is important that he is always on a leash or supervised in a fenced-in yard when outdoors. This little guy is looking for a patient and understanding owner who will continue to work with him and provide him with the care he needs. If you are interested in meeting Rufus, please let us know!

Belle has been ADOPTED

Belle (A135658) is a 7-year-old heeler who weighed just under 30lbs at intake!

08/31/24 Miss Belle is back at the shelter due to no fault of her own but rather some unforeseen challenges that came up and prevented her previous owner from being home enough to spend time with her. Belle was described as being shy but friendly and very affectionate! Her most recent owner said Belle loves belly rubs, walks and car rides! She was said to mind very well and to be kennel trained and housebroken. Belle was said to know the commands sit and stay and walks well on a leash. She did tend to bark at strangers and cars on walks, but was said to do well with adults that she met through appropriate introductions. Belle did not meet many other animals while in her most recent home, but she did not appreciate the company of the one large dog that she visited with. She took one field trip to the dog park with her previous owner, but there were no other dogs at the park at that time and Belle apparently spent her whole time sitting on the picnic table with her owner! Belle will most likely do best in a home where she can soak up all of her owner's attention and not have to share it with any other animals or kids. If you are interested in meeting Miss Belle, please give us a call!

08/23/24 This little pint-sized gal is Belle! Belle arrived at the shelter due to no fault of her own, but rather due to an unfortunate divorce situation. Miss Belle is a pretty typical heeler, meaning she is cautious of strangers and does not like children very much. We highly recommend that Belle go to a home without children due to her herding behavior and general disdain for nonsense. Belle was said to prefer women to men as well. She was said to be kennel trained, which is where she spent most of her time. There was not any information about Belle being housebroken on her paperwork, but she has done well at keeping her kennel clean while at the shelter! Belle is looking for a calm, quiet home without children, other dogs or cats. She was said to dig occasionally, and she might be a little rough when playing. Miss Belle can be particular, but she makes up for it with her snuggles! If you are interested in meeting Belle, please give the shelter a call!

PERCY, FELIZ, DJALI HAVE BEEN ADOPTED!

Feliz (A135467), Djali (A135650), and Percy (A135648) are 14-week-old DSH cat who weighed just over 3 pounds on intake!

08/29/24 This little kitten is Feliz! Feliz arrived at the shelter as a stray with her brothers Percy and Djali. These kittens were very fearful initially but have already started to come around! They were sent to foster to help them gain trust in people. Feliz and her brother Percy were said to do great in foster and allowed for cuddles! Djali, on the other hand, is still building trust. They are all looking for patient homes that will continue to help them come out of their shells. They have all used their litterboxes wonderfully while at the shelter and have had healthy appetites! If you are interested in meeting Feliz, Percy, or Djali, please let us know!

Demi (A135705) is a 7-year-old bully breed who weighed 45.6lbs at intake!

08/30/24 This sweet little cuddle bug is Demi! Demi arrived at the shelter as a stray, so we don't know much about her history. She has done well at keeping her kennel clean while at the shelter, so she may already be housebroken. Demi has been very shy with strangers and can be timid in loud settings. We recommend she go to a quieter home, maybe without rambunctious small children. She has not seemed to mind her canine neighbors, even the loud ones. Please remember to do all introductions slowly and in a controlled environment if planning to introduce Demi into a multi-dog household. We do not know how she does with cats or other smaller animals, so please use caution if you have any of these animals in your home. Miss Demi loves to snuggle when approached in a slow and calm manner. If you are interested in this sweet, gentle girl, please give the shelter a call!

U'sa is AVAILABLE for adoption!

U’sa (A135677) is a 5-month-old Sharpei x Rottweiler mix who weighed 64.3 pounds on intake!

08/27/24 This sweet little lady is U’sa! U’sa was said to be 75% Sharpei and 25% Rottweiler. Add that together, and she is 100% wonderful! U’sa was described as a very sweet dog who does well with everyone, including babies and children! The shelter environment can be a bit scary, but she is being brave and conquering her fears! In her prior home, U’sa was said to be kennel trained, housebroken, and to ride well in a car. She was known to dig and get into the trash if left unsupervised. At 5 months old, we highly encourage her next owner to bring her to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on her manners and for the added positive socialization. U’sa was said to do well with other animals including dogs, cats, pocket pets, and livestock. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with new animals. U’sa was seen by our shelter vet and had entropion surgery. She is doing great but does need to remain in her cone until fully healed. If you are interested in meeting U’sa, please let us know!

ADOPTED!

Zelda (A134090) is a 1-year-and-10-month-old Anatolian Shepherd who weighed 49.7 pounds on intake but was severely underweight.

08/21/24 This sweet but shy girl is Zelda! Zelda was surrendered to the shelter because her prior owner could no longer care for her. She arrived at the shelter very underweight but has had a healthy appetite and will be packing on the pounds in no time! She could easily put on 20 more pounds and be in a more ideal weight range. Zelda was described as more reserved. She can be skeptical when it comes to meeting new people, so making sure you are approaching her in a fear-free manner (and with plenty of treats) is key! Zelda was said to do wonderful with babies and children and prefers women to men. Her prior owner also noted that she is kennel trained, housebroken, and generally minds well! However, she was known to get into the trash if given the opportunity. Zelda did live with another dog, but other than that, her history with other animals is unknown. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new animals. Zelda is looking for a patient owner with the time and energy to devote to her care and continue building her confidence! She has been very sweet towards the care staff at the shelter and we are hoping that she will find the perfect home to set her up for success! If you are interested in meeting Zelda, please let us know!

Tootsie is AVAILABLE for adoption!

Tootsie (A135571) is a 6-year-old Labrador Retriever x Standard Poodle mix who weighed 54.6 pounds on intake!

08/15/24 This bundle of joy is Tootsie! Tootsie is a high-energy pup looking for an owner who can continue with her training. Recently she has started to counter surf and will pull food off the table. She was also known to jump on people and be overly excitable. We encourage her next owner to bring her to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on her manners. In the last year, Tootsie has had a few seizures and was evaluated by the vet. Since this has not been a common occurrence currently, the veterinarian did not start her on medication. However, if she does have another seizure, her new owner should reach out to their veterinarian. We also encourage her new owner to discuss the possibility of managing a possible seizure dog prior to adoption. Courtesy of our amazing shelter fund she was sent out for bloodwork and a dental! Tootsie was said to be kennel trained, housebroken, and to ride well in a car. She also knows a variety of commands but does not always choose to listen. Tootsie was known to dig, chew, and be vocal at times. She was often found chewing on the children’s toys in the homes and books that were left out. Tootsie is quite the character and was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate dog. She has a big personality that shines through! Tootsie was also said to enjoy eating ice cubes! If you are interested in meeting Tootsie, please let us know!

Kooki (A135721) is a 6-year-old DSH cat who weighed 9.81 pounds on intake!

08/29/24 This feline friend is Kooki! In her previous home, Kooki was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate cat. However, she can be initially shy when meeting new people. Kooki has no known experience around children, so if you do have kiddos around, please be sure to make appropriate introductions! She was said to do well with other cats but has never been around dogs. If you plan on introducing her to new potential friends – slow, safe, and controlled is the way to go! Kooki was said to be litterbox trained and has used it well at the shelter! She would love to find her new place to call home and if you are interested in meeting Kooki, please let us know!
