was established in 1991 by Dr. Janette Ellison. We take pride in providing the finest feline health care available, with an emphasis on preventative health. Each staff member is committed to every client and patient. Because of this, doctor appointments are typically 45-60 minutes long. This time is spent talking about aspects of the patient's life, such as nutrition, preventative care, and behavi

oral issues. The Cat Hospital of Fairfax provides doctor appointments, 15 minute nurse appointments, radiography, in-house STAT lab work, and a variety of surgical procedures: castration, ovariohysterectomy, thyroidectomy, endoscopy and dental prophylaxis. Say hello to Ruby! This is her post-op. She stopped in today for a COHAT. During her dental radiographs, we discovered she had a few bad teeth that needed to be extracted. Her pain medication is working "grrrreat!" as Tony the Tiger would say 😁 We love you Ruby! Such a brave sweet girl. Wishing you a speedy recovery! 😻

I'm already back at work finishing important business as you can see. It's hard work but somebody has to make sure those papers don't go flying off the desk.

Dental disease is one of the most common medical conditions we see in cats.

Many cats do not display signs of dental disease that their owners can detect until it is severe. If you do see evidence of tartar or gingivitis, or your cat shows signs of pain or discomfort, you should take them to your veterinarian for an oral examination.

The sooner any problems are identified, the easier and quicker they are to treat.
Oral surgery, like tooth extractions, can sound frightening but their recovery time is relatively quick. The benefits of ridding the mouth of bacteria and infections outweighs holding off on necessary dental procedures.
