Meet Megan, one of our incredible Oncology veterinary technicians, this is her story of becoming a tech and working within the fast paced veterinary industry!

"I grew up in NOVA and started in veterinary medicine in 2005 as a receptionist and then soon cross trained as a veterinary assistant. I worked general practice for many years before moving to Denver, CO to start school in 2014 to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. In Denver, I worked ER and Neurology and really found a fondness for specialty veterinary medicine. We moved back to the NOVA area and I wanted to stay in the VCA family, so I decided to join the SouthPaws team with Oncology in 2019! I love the relationships that we develop with our patients and clients and that we get to enrich the quality of life in our patients and give them more time with their loving families. I feel lucky to be able to provide high quality medicine and do what I enjoy everyday."

🐾✨ Meet Heather, one of our amazing veterinary technicians! Her journey in veterinary medicine began with her beloved black lab, Sam, who was diagnosed with diabetes. That experience led her to her first job as a kennel person at 16, where she quickly moved up to become a veterinary assistant. After graduating from the Veterinary Technician program in 2000, Heather joined Southpaws Oncology in 2005, where she has had the privilege to work in Oncology, Internal Medicine, and more!

"I love every moment spent with the pets and my amazing co-workers. 💖 Being a manager has its challenges, but training others and seeing pets receive that extra TLC is what makes it all worth it. I’m especially proud that my sons might follow in my footsteps one day! Thank you to all the veterinarians, techs, and clients who have supported me along the way. Happy Veterinary Technician Week!"
