Visi, Jagger and London have been waiting forever for their new families! 😢

Across the board, medium to large dog adoptions have come to a screeching halt. 😩 Adopters are still adopting large breed puppies who grow into large dogs, so we don’t understand the issue. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m fact, adopting an older dog, has so many benefits! 🙌 Puppies are a pain (no offense pups 😜)…they’re mouthy, not housebroken, and generally naughty. Adult dogs tend to be housebroken, their personalities have developed so you know what you’re getting, and they actually sleep through the night! 🤗

If you’re in the market to adopt, please consider adopting a larger adult dog. 🙏 They’re just as deserving of a home as a small fluffy dog or a puppy.

Tomorrow is and we would like to introduce you to Susie Q!

Susie Q came to us last month. This adorable girl was living in a very bad situation and had been medically neglected for a long time.😢 At only 2 years old she had multiple litters and had the largest lipoma we had ever seen (pic in comments). 😡

We immediately took Susie Q to our amazing vet partners Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates for a surgery consult. ❤️ It was determined that due to the size and location of the lipoma a specialist would need to perform the surgery. The surgery alone cost $3000! 🤯

The good news is that the lipoma was benign and we were able to help this deserving dog. 🙌 But large medical bills like this quickly deplete our funds. 😩

This year we need your help to replenish those funds so we can help more of Virginia’s most at-risk dogs. 🙏

Benny is convinced that he was the inspiration for our quilt…🙄

I mean the body type is definitely similar (very long with tiny legs) but the missing goofy underbite should clue the little man in that he was indeed not the model. 😂

Please don’t tell him though! Let’s let him think he’s model material. 😜

Bear is available for adoption! 🥳

Thanks to our medical fund we were able to say ‘yes’ to helping Bear. ❤️

Bear was found as a stray and ended up in a rural shelter very confused and sad. 😢 When we agreed to rescue Bear we didn’t know what his medical needs would be.

We discovered he had a low grade heart murmur and sent him to a cardiologist who confirmed the beginning stages of heart disease. Despite his heart, Bear was cleared to go under anesthesia for a dental and neuter surgery. His teeth were so bad that SIXTEEN needed to be pulled. 😳

This we are asking for donations to replenish our medical fund so we can save more dogs like Bear. 🙏

Bear is a sweet senior who really just wants a yard to explore and a couch to nap on. 😴 He's great with dogs and cats, is independent and low-key, lows belly and ear rubs, and is an all around good boy! 🤗

We aren't sure how many years that Bear has left, but we do know that they will be filled with all the love! 🥰

Happy Black FriYAY!

After you get finished shopping all the sales, why not give a few dollars to Virginia’s most at-risk dogs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This we are asking for donations to replenish our medical fund. 🙏

We rescue a lot of senior dogs which means they usually need more than routine vetting. They typically come to us after not receiving regulate vet care for many years. 😢

Cabbage was estimated to be around 9 years old. This cutie appeared to be in good shape until we saw her teeth. 😳 To say they were bad is an understatement! She ended up having almost every tooth 🦷 removed costing nearly $1500.

Dentals are very expensive but absolutely necessary for the health of a dog. Cabbage felt so much better after getting those rotten teeth pulled. 🙌 She has since found a wonderful forever family to spoil her through her golden years! 🥰

Every dollar we raise goes directly towards caring for the dogs in our care and those that will need us in the future. ❤️🐶❤️

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

We are so thankful for this community. 🙌 We would not be able of save the lives of Virginia’s most at-risk animals without the support of our shelter partners, volunteers, fosters, donors, adopters, and followers. 🥰

You all make this possible and we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family, friends, and fur-babies. 🍂🦃🍁

This we are asking for donations to replenish our medical fund. 🙏

In January we saw a picture of a very emaciated dog and knew we had to help him. He looked so sad and defeated. 😢 When he arrived to us he had pressure sores, most of his hair was missing, and his muscles had atrophied from years of neglect.

Despite being let down by humans, Alfie knew only how to love. 🥰 This gentle giant loves everyone and everyone loves Alfie! In the following months he had many vet visits, lots of medications, bloodwork, X-rays, and eventually a dental to remove teeth that had been worn down to the nerves.

You would never know Alfie was in such horrible shape less than a year ago. 🙌 He’s the most handsome dog now and is spoiled rotten by his new family who happen to have fostered him back to health! ❤️

Every dollar donated goes directly towards helping dogs in need like Alfie. 🐕

We pulled Ruthie knowing she would likely need more than routine vetting.

We, however, didn’t expect her to be diagnosed with a severe case of Pyometra requiring emergency surgery to remove her infected uterus costing almost $5000. 😩 After healing from Pyometra surgery, Ruthie went back in to have mammary gland tumors removed adding another $1000 in vet bills. 🤯

With a clean bill of health, Ruthie found an amazing home with a fur sister and a loving new mom. 🥰

Every dollar we raise goes directly to helping dogs like Ruthie! 🥰

We have a real soft spot in our hearts for dogs that need a little extra love and care. ❤️ That includes dogs that have been neglected, are sick or injured, and seniors. We don’t shy away from medical needs, no matter how extensive they are. But we do depend on the help from our generous donors so we can provide the care these sweet pups need and deserve. 😇

Introducing, Peaches! 🥳

Peaches is 8 months old and 30 lbs. Peaches was being given away for free online and a Good Samaritan grabbed her and got her safely to the local animal shelter. 🙌

Peaches has been in a wonderful foster home since and her foster mom reports:

“She's great with people of all ages, other dogs, and cats. She's potty trained and she listens really well! She's full of energy and she's super smart. She loves chasing the leaves that are blowing around while we're out on walks and meeting new faces. She loves to play fetch and loves to play with her toys. She loves to be by your side at all times and will relax when you are.” ❤️🐶❤️

London is still in search of his forever home‼️

London is 7 months old and 40 lbs. If you’re looking for a dog with a puppy personality but has grown out of the puppy phase, London is your boy. 🙌 Plus how can you resist those gorgeous green eyes? 🥰

Just like any pup, London loves to run and play with his toys and bones but his main preference is to be with his humans and other dogs. 🐕 He loves to be your shadow and cool off on the kitchen tile floor while you are cooking; hang out on the sofa while you are watching TV; or just sitting in the grass during yard work. 🤗

London's foster mom says it best: "He is the happiest, wiggliest velcro dog who will make sure you get your steps in. He's a social butterfly and loves dogs and people. If you want a smile on your face every day, he's the dog for you!" ❤️❤️❤️

We can’t believe Benny is still looking for a forever home! 😩

Yes, he would prefer to be the only dog in your life…but he has so many awesome qualities too! 🥰

Benny loves to cuddle and will happily sleep in as late as you’d like. 😴 He’s very respectful of your work schedule and will lay near you while you telework. He’s the cutest when he zips around on his tiny legs chasing toys. 🤗 He’s housebroken, crate trained, has the most adorable underbite, and he absolutely loves his people. ❤️❤️❤️

Benny is about 4 years old and 15 lbs. He’s neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, is on monthly preventatives, and is microchipped.

Certified lap dog, Roxy, is ready to find her forever home! 🥳

Roxy was surrendered to a rural shelter when her owner had to move and couldn't take Roxy with her. Sadly, Roxy is a dog that bonds deeply and being separated from her person was difficult for her. 😢

Roxy is about 9 years old and 15 lbs. 🐕 She's good with dogs and cats and is a total snuggle bug! If you want a best friend, Roxy is your girl. 🤗 She will follow you anywhere you go and will bark when she needs to go potty. She will cuddle with you for hours while you watch tv or telework. 🥰

It doesn't take much to make Roxy happy, your presence is her present! 😜

Introducing, Zeus! 🥳

Zeus, our resident Fraggle, is 10 months old and 20 lbs. 🐶 He is a lovable cuddle bug who doesn't understand why anyone would want their own personal space when he could be in it, looking at you with his adorable, happy face. 🥰

Zeus loves playing with stuffed animals and enjoys a game of fetch. He bonds quickly with his people and will follow them wherever they go. Zeus is house and crate trained and is good with other dogs and kids. 🤩 He doesn't shed, but his long luxurious fur needs daily brushing to keep the knots at bay. ❤️

Zeus's foster family of four all adore him and he loves all the attention he can get with 4 sets of hands available to pet and snuggle with him. 🤗Recent guests dubbed him the "perfect dog and we have to agree. 🙌

Sweet Lovie

Is their anything sweeter than the love between a mom and her baby?🤔 Absolutely not! 😽 Lovie 💕 and her kitten Rex are a sweet pair. They would be an amazing addition to any home.🥰 Both are litter box trained and are easy to have around. They play together and snuggle together. 🐈‍⬛❤️🐈‍⬛❤️ Lovie is a young mom (2 years) who loves pets and attention from her person but she isn't needy. She is calm and loving. She is shy at first but an angel once she comes out of her shell. 😍 Rex is a playful and sweet kitten. He would love to be adopted with his mom but would also do well in a house with another young cat or kitten friend. 😸 ✨Both Rex and Lovie have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, are up-to-date on vaccines, were treated with dewormer and flea/tick prevention.
