Seriously though, how can you say ‘no’ to such a cute temper tantrum? 😜 Which explains why she needs to lose a few lbs and is currently on a diet that she is none to pleased about. 😆

Her foster mom says: “She’s a smart girl. She sits by the door when she has to do her business and starts scratching the door when it’s more urgent. She does her business immediately so you don’t need to take her on a long walk to get her to potty. She is really entertaining. I find her adorable and she still has a lot of s***k and sass for being a senior. Plus she likes walks and can go a long while for anyone looking for an exercise buddy. Or she’s happy snuggling with you on the couch. As long as she is near you, she is happy!” ❤️🐶❤️

We love a good adoption update! 🙌

Tulip (now Olive) was dumped at one of our shelter partners in a trash can with her littermates. 😢 They were filthy and malnourished. They soon started breaking with Parvo and were passing rocks and pebbles that they’d been eating to survive. 😩

Despite all that they went through at such a young age, these tiny pups were survivors! They all found loving homes and we just got the below update from Olive’s amazing momma. 🥰

“You may remember her as one of the ‘trash can puppies’ rescued almost 3 years ago! Well that life is long gone! Now she’s a dog model and breed ambassador helping break the stigma and discrimination against pitbulls and other bully breeds! She’s the sweetest little girl!!” ❤️🐶❤️

Our mission is to save Virginia’s most at-risk animals and we couldn’t do it without all our amazing adopters. 🤗

What’s better than one senior pup…TWO, two senior pups are better. 🙌

Kitty and her sister Lily sadly lost their home after their owner passed away. 😢 These senior girls would love to find a home together but aren't bonded and can be adopted out separately.

🐶 Kitty is 9 years old 20 lbs. She came to us extremely matted and was medically groomed. If you are looking for a companion who will never leave your side, Kitty is your girl. She loves to snuggle and get belly rubs. She's an intelligent girl and will let you know when she has to go to the bathroom by sitting by the door and in more urgent situations, pawing at you. Her excitement to go outside is infectious and in true Jack Russel Terrier nature she loves the adventure of a long walk with lots of sniffing. She may get vocal when she sees another dog on a walk but if you pull her by your side she will stop. Her funny antics will have you laughing and enjoying her company.

🐶 Lily is 10 years old 30 lbs. She is underweight and recovering from a severe skin infection. This beautiful girl is already feeling much better and her personality is coming out. Lily is a quiet and polite girl who is low key and listens well. She walks well on a leash, is house trained and knows sit and paw. When meeting other dogs, she's been good and didn't show much interest. Lily is very treat motivated and sweet. You will melt when she looks at you with those blue eyes and gives you a gentle kiss!

He’s the best at burrowing and keeping you nice and toasty warm while you cuddle. 🙌

Benny is 4 years old and 15 lbs. He’s housebroken, crate trained, loves to play with toys, an awesome cuddler, and enjoys going for walks. 🐕 Benny has the silliest underbite and when his tongue gets stuck out it’s too funny! 😜 Benny wants to be your one and only pup and promises to be your best buddy for life. 🥰

Happy FriYAY!!!

On Wednesday we welcomed Kitty to NPA and WOW was she matted. 🙀

We knew we couldn’t let her stay that way any longer and our friends at Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates went above and beyond to give Miss Kitty a haircut. 🥰 She’s like a new dog! 🙌

Kitty and her sister Lily are decompressing in a wonderful foster home and will be ready for adoption in a few days. We would love for these senior sisters to find a forever home together! 🐶❤️🐶

🚨Foster Homes Needed!🚨

Lily’s and Kitty’s owner sadly passed away. 😢 A family member has been holding them but can’t keep them past January 17th when they will end up in a rural shelter. 😩 Both can be a little shy but warm up quickly.

🐾 Lily is a 10 year old border collie mix and weighs 30 lbs.

🐾 Kitty is a 9 year old Jack Russell/Bichon mix and weighs about 20 lbs.

Both girls are spayed and can go to a foster home together or separate. If we get a commitment for them we will work to transport them on Wednesday and they’ll be ready for foster that evening. 🙏

Fostering is a wonderful way to help homeless animals. We provide vet care, supplies and support. All you need to bring is your ❤️ and 🏡.

Sammy is looking for a forever family! 🙏

Sammy is a year old and 35 lbs. This sweet pup was found as a stray and ended up in a rural shelter. Despite no one coming to claim Sammy, he's a very happy boy and doesn't let that get him down.

Sammy is all fun all the time! 🤗 He loves to go for walks, car rides, play with toys, and cuddle up on the couch for a nice movie sesh. 🥰 He’s very playful and would love a doggie sibling to keep him company. 🐶

Introducing....Dash!

Dash is 2 months old, 10 lbs, and the proud owner of the cutest little folded ears ever. He loves other dogs, has been fine with cats, and very gentle with small kids.

He has been making great strides with potty training and sleeps in a crate through the night! He's great at spending time independently but also loves to hang out with other dogs and play. His foster mom likes to say he has an "old soul".

Lea found herself in a rural shelter as just a tiny puppy. 😢 She is 4-5 months old and an Eskimo spitz/blue heeler mix weighting 10 lbs. She is super sweet, good with dogs, cats and kids. 🥰

We would love to give Lea a second chance at a loving family but we need a foster home to place her in. 🙏

We need a holiday miracle! 🎄☃️🎅

Cookie and her 10 week old puppies ended up in a rural shelter days before Christmas after they were abandoned by their owner. 😢

A shelter, no matter how nice, is not a good place for such young puppies that aren’t old enough to be fully vaccinated. This adorable family needs out NOW! 🙏

Cookie is 2 yrs old and weighs 50 lbs. She’s an awesome Momma who’s super friendly, good with dogs, and loves kids. Her puppies are now 10 days old, weigh 1.4-1.9 lbs, 4 males and 2 females.

Fostering is a wonderful way to help homeless animals and is so easy. We will provide all medical care and supplies. All you need to bring in your ❤️ and 🏡.

Running a rescue is HARD. It’s a thankless job on most days and we see a lot of very sad situations. 😩

But it’s posts like this that heal our hearts and make us want to keep going! 🙌 To everyone that considers the scared, shutdown, and senior animals…you are our heroes! 🥰

Just imagine how much better this holiday season would be with London by your side! 🤗

How cute would he be laying next to the Christmas tree?🎄 Or romping around in the snow while you build a snowman? ☃️ Or cuddled up on the couch watching holiday movies while you drink some hot cocoa? ☕️ The possibilities are endless!

London is 8 months old and 40 lbs. This boy is gorgeous! And he has the sweetest personality. 🥰 He absolutely loves other dogs, will follow you wherever you go, is food motivated (even likes veggies), and is housebroken. 🤩 London is also super smart and his amazing foster mom has taught him ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘off’, and is working in recall!

Sweet Lovie

Is their anything sweeter than the love between a mom and her baby?🤔 Absolutely not! 😽 Lovie 💕 and her kitten Rex are a sweet pair.
