Summer holidays can be a stressful time for pets, especially with a lot of added outdoor gatherings and noise! Check out our pet tool-kit below for some options to help keep things calm through the holiday.

*Please allow 24-48 hours for medications to be dispensed. The holiday may add additional shipping/filling delays. Patients must be seen annually in order to send home new prescriptions*

Fourth of July is right around the corner!

Please note that we routinely see an increase in case load and refill requests during this time.

If your pet requires a new prescription or a refill of medication to help them through the holiday, please place those requests as soon as possible.

*Medications that we carry in-hospital typically take 24-48 hours to be filled, whereas medications that have to be ordered may take 5-7 business days.*

We love seeing feline patients here at Alpha, but sometimes they don't love seeing us! Even if your feline friend does well for routine veterinary visits, they may be experiencing anxiety.

Our veterinarians can help identify signs of anxiety in your pets and create a personalized plan to reduce anxiety during vet visits. Don't hestitate to mention this at your next appointment!

*CLINIC ANNOUNCEMENT*

Dr. Segl will be out of office April 13th-27th. During this time we will be welcoming back one of our favorite relief vets, Dr. Erwin!

See below for a brief bio:

Dr. Erwin was raised in San Jose, CA with many animals including llamas, horses, goats, chickens and numerous dogs and cats. The house was always filled with many critters including a baby goat that was being bottle raised.

Dr. Erwin earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Scripps College in Claremont, CA, and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She practiced in California for over three years before moving to Northern Virginia.

Dr. Erwin’s special interests include senior pet care and pain management.

She lives with her husband and son, two dogs, and rambunctious cat. She enjoys kickboxing, experimenting with new recipes, and spending time with her family.

With the holidays coming up, we wanted to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly with their pets! Some common holiday items that can cause distress are listed below, but we encourage everyone to read the full ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center guidelines!

ASPCA is also a great resource if your pet has eaten something that you are unsure of- they are board certified veterinary toxicologists and can make recommendations based on information provided.
