The importance of water is this year’s focus of World Migratory Bird Day – a perfect opportunity to highlight the patients treated at International Bird Rescue who all rely on lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, wetlands, and/or coastal waters for feeding, drinking, or nesting, as well as places to rest and refuel during long seasonal migrations 💦

Join us on May 13 for a World Migratory Bird Day Celebration and Cordelia Center Open House – the first in-person open house in almost three years! 🤩 Guests of all ages will enjoy interactive and educational exhibits about waterbirds and Bird Rescue’s work in the community, as well as arts and crafts and a nature walk around the Cordelia Slough property. The Cordelia Slough is part of the Pacific Flyway, where at least a billion birds migrate along every year. We hope to see you there!

International Bird Rescue is aware of an oil spill in Orange County, and we have been activated as part of the Oiled Wildlife Care Network. Responding to wildlife affected by oil spills is what we were born to do, and we are committed to provide all requested wildlife assistance to the authorities.

Further information about the oil spill can be found at https://calspillwatch.wildlife.ca.gov/.

The Cal Spill Watch site provides information about current response efforts to oil and other toxic spills in California. The site is updated when spills occur.

The Snowy Plover we cared for is now on display at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Thank you, San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory, for rescuing this little beauty in the first place!
