🐾 Meet Gracie: A Special Kitty Looking for Her Forever Home 🐾

Gracie’s journey hasn’t been easy, but this resilient 12-year-old beauty has so much love to give! She’s a one-eyed wonder who recently discovered her love for wand toys—watching her play will melt your heart.

Gracie came to us with a ruptured eye, a painful eyelid condition, severe dental disease, and chronic breathing issues. After weeks of care, we were able to remove her ruptured eye, fix her eyelid, and treat her teeth. Today, she’s breathing better, feeling better, and showing her playful, loving personality.

Here’s what Gracie is looking for:
🌟 A quiet, one-cat household (she’s not a fan of other kitties).
🌟 Someone who understands her occasional health needs. Right now, she’s thriving without medication, but her symptoms may flare up from time to time.

✨ Meet Little Bit, the kitten who reminds us all what resilience and love can achieve. ✨

Little Bit was just 7 weeks old and weighed a mere 1.5 pounds when he was surrendered to us in distress. He had swallowed something that caused a dangerous obstruction in his tiny intestines. Despite the odds, our incredible team jumped into action on a Friday night to perform life-saving surgery.

What we didn’t expect was the second challenge: bloodwork revealed Little Bit was in acute kidney failure. We aggressively treated him, took him home every night, gave him his medications, and kept him close. Slowly, day by day, his kidney numbers improved until they finally returned to normal.

Here’s the twist of fate: Little Bit found his forever home with the same amazing family that adopted another one of our rescues, Flea… both living happily ever after, together.

Little Bit’s journey wasn’t easy, but it’s stories like his that make every late night and tough decision worth it.

To the wonderful family who opened their hearts and home to not one but two special kittens: thank you. Your love has given them a second chance at life, and we know they’ll bring endless joy to yours.

Be a hero! Call TAILS to get trap trained. You can SAVE kitties from a harsh life on the streets!

If you are willing to help us humanely trap the cats, great! We can train you on the cat-trapping process — it’s easy and not scary, trust us. It’s humane, safe and gets cats what they need —spayed/neutered and vaccinated, and (if they turn out to be friendly, or are young enough to be socialized) — homes. We will provide traps, training, and get the cats to one of our veterinarians.

Adult cats who are feral in nature will be returned back to their colony after neutering.

Building trust with your kitty

We humans just love scooping our sweet felines up for a snuggle, but the truth is most cats don’t love this as much as we do. It’s just way too intense for a species that likes doing things their own way!

Instead, you may want to try replacing this kind of high-intensity interaction with a more frequent, low-intensity interaction such as scratching her gently behind the ears when she comes over to say hello.

Or, just encourage your cat to sit quietly beside you on the sofa for a few, long strokes down her back. Careful though. If you pet too much, she may get agitated and swat or nip you, not because she’s rude, but because she has no other way of asking you to back off. If you want to build trust with your cat, patience and small doses of affection are always the way to go.

This is Jaafar, a very sweet boy who was brought to us without any vaccination history or even proof of a rabies shot. We do know he had been allowed to roam outdoors and therefore, by law, we needed to rabies quarantine him for six months! Only the vaccinated staff and cats are allowed to interact with him.

So by day, Jaafar has to stay in one of our luxurious exam rooms as his private Kingdom, but can romp freely around the clinic after hours. His "day of freedom" with a clean bill of health is October 1st and he often meows that he would really LOVE a cozy home with soft furniture and some cuddly humans.

And speaking of LOVE, Jaafar LOVES to play and LOVES to LOVE! He is incredibly sweet. Even Jeorge, our office kitty, LOVES Jaafar, and that's saying something! He's about 18 months old. This tiny kitten was rescued by a homeless couple who found him alone and hungry out in the streets. They kindly decided to bring him to our cat hospital in Fairfield.

When we receive a homeless kitten, we always do a thorough exam to ensure there are no health issues. When we turned this furbaby over to check out his underbelly, we all broke into huge smiles upon discovering a perfect, furry heart emblazoned on his tummy!

We at Aristokatz hope that ALL homelessness will someday become a thing of the past. Spaying your cats and kittens is a great way to start.
