Team Woofgang & Co. was founded in 2017 by Kelly Maffei, Amy Stern and Kris Burbank, three Fairfield mothers of adults with disabilities looking to provide daily purpose for their young adults about to leave their state provided educational programs. Their mission was to provide job-skills and vocational training for disabled adults who had aged out of public school system support. It became imperative to provide a solution that was non-diagnosis specific that met the individual where they were ability-wise. Their concern was the lack of programs and services available for their loved ones after they turned 21. While individuals with special needs receive an abundance of support during their primary and secondary education - such as educational, social, and transportation services - these resources abruptly come to an end after public school system support ends at 22 years of age. Our mission serves to bridge this gap by providing individualized vocational training, lifelong learning, and social opportunities to adults with a wide range of intellectual and developmental disabilities, free of charge, and support their families and communities to help them live the fullest of lives through our two-tiered curriculum. We achieve this through the utilization of baking and selling dog treats and other novelty items.

According to The Cleveland Clinic, “neurodivergent is a nonmedical term that describes people whose brains develop or work differently for some reason. This means the person has different strengths and struggles from people whose brains develop or work more typically. While some people who are neurodivergent have medical conditions, it also happens to people where a medical condition or diagnosis hasn’t been identified.”

Some examples of people who might be considered neurodiverse might be diagnosed with autism, ADHD, DiGeorge syndrome, Downs syndrome, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Prader-Willi syndrome, Tourette syndrome, Williams syndrome, and sensory processing disorders.

As defined by the , I/DDs are differences that are usually present at birth and affect the individual’s physical, intellectual, and/or emotional development. Many of these conditions affect multiple body parts or systems.

An intellectual disability can start any time before a child turns 18 and is characterized by differences with both intellectual functioning (the ability to learn, reason, problem solve, and other skills) and adaptive behavior, which includes everyday social and life skills.

A developmental disability is a broader category of lifelong challenges that can be intellectual, physical, or both.

“I/DD” is the term often used to describe situations in which intellectual disability and other disabilities are present.

We could really use your help! Our beloved bakery is facing a bit of a challenge, as we have to say goodbye to an important piece of equipment. Our washer/dryer unit has seen better days and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, the cost for a new unit and installation is $1,350, and this wasn’t in Team Woofgang’s 2025 budget.

This washer/dryer isn’t just a machine; it plays a big role in keeping our dog treat production line running smoothly.
