CERT has become a highly sought after course by citizen groups, school systems and community members to train individuals how to handle emergencies and disaster. The fact is, immediately after a major disaster, each of us will be on our own while Emergency Service Personnel (Fire Department, Paramedics and Hospital, etc,) figure out what happened and how to best to respond.

A Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a ready group of organized and trained volunteers that operate at the neighborhood level. They are prepared to be self-sustaining for five days following a large disaster.
When disaster strikes, CERT volunteers spring into action: they take care of themselves, their family, check on neighbors, suppress small fires, conduct light search and rescue and provide emergency medical aid and psychological comfort to their neighbors.
You ask how can I become a part of CERT?

If you live or work in Fairfield, you can participate in the free training program sponsored by the City of Fairfield Fire Department. Participants will receive training, practice and learn how to work as a team in their neighborhoods in the event of an emergency. No prior experience or training is necessary and there is no fee for the training program.

Hold on to your hats and secure your fences! The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and/or high wind warning for all of Solano County starting tonight through early Saturday. Sustained winds of 45 mph with gusts to 65 mph are expected. Watch out for downed power lines, trees and debris in the roadways. Ensure your pets are in a safe and secured area; downed fences often lead to stray animals. Take the time to prepare yourself now in the event of a power outage. Charge your phones📱and put new batteries in your flash lights. 🔦

Rainfall is upon us here in Solano County! There are multiple roadways which are currently closed due to the heavy rainfall. Remember a mere six inches of moving water can sweep an adult off their feet, 12 inches of moving water can carry away a small car and 18 inches of moving water can carry away even large SUVs! If you see a large body of water in the road remember, Turn Around, Don't Drown. Find an alternate way to head to your destination. Below is a list of areas currently closed in the unincorporated areas of Solano County:

Lewis Road from Hay Road to Fry Road is currently closed due to flooding.
Meridian Road North at Midway Road intersection is currently closed due to flooding.
Meridian Road between Hawkins Road and Elmira Road is currently closed due to flooding.
Winters Road 0.5 miles north of Allendale Road is currently one foot underwater.
Sievers Road between Pitt School Road and Curry Road is currently closed due to flooding.
Ledgewood Road between Suisun Valley Road and Mankas Corner Road is currently closed due to flooding.
Cement Hill Road near the Cement Plant is partially flooded.
Hwy 113 between Rio Vista and Dixon is flooded in multiple spots. It is recommended to take alternative routes due to the heavy rainfall.
Pedrick Road south of Vaughn Road is heavily flooded.
Oday Road/Nunes Road from Eastbound 80 to Dixon Avenue is closed due to flooding.
Delhi Road from the Levee to Liberty Island Road is closed due to flooding.
Halley Road between Sweeney Road and Thissel Road is closed due to flooding.
4:30pm: Abernathy Road at Mankas Corner Road is beginning to flood.
4:30pm: Midway Road at Porter Road is beginning to flood.
4:41pm: Fox Road between Hawkins Road and the Railroad tracks is beginning to flood.
8:31pm: Gates Canyon Road at Pleasants Valley Road is now closed except to residents due to water volume.

Remember to drive safely and report any hazardous roadway conditions on the Solano County Sheriff's Office non-emergency line at 707-421-7090. This list will be updated as we receive more information.
