1. Amendment #133, Facilitating the transition to a humane pet store model in the Commonwealth
This amendment would require that new pet stores in Massachusetts adhere to a humane model that works with shelters and rescues to provide animals to the public, instead of puppy mills and other animal mills. Current pet stores are not impacted. Sponsored by State Representative Natalie Higgins and State Rep. Kim Ferguson

2. Amendment #306, Cat Declawing
This amendment would ensure cats in Massachusetts are protected against misguided elective declawing by prohibiting the practice unless necessary for the cat's physical health. Unnecessary declawing of a cat, which is effectively amputation at the last joint, often causes significant medical and behavioral problems for the animal. Sponsored by State Representative Tackey Chan

3. Amendment #559, Traveling Animal Acts
This amendment would prevent the use of certain dangerous wild animals (bears, primates, big cats, elephants, and giraffes) in traveling acts in Massachusetts. Traveling exotic animal shows are inhumane and also put the public at risk of injury and zoonotic disease transfer. Sponsored by State Representative Carole Fiola

4. Amendment #361, An Act to protect animals from convicted abusers
This amendment would work to prevent someone who has been convicted of animal cruelty from having access to animals for a certain period of time after such conviction. Sponsored by MA State Rep. Tram T. Nguyen

5. Amendment #64, Removing dogs and cats from the definition of livestock
This amendment would clarify that dogs and cats are not “livestock.” This section was prompted by a superior court decision that ruled that, for the purposes of zoning, that dogs can be considered “livestock” under the statutory definition of “farming” and “agriculture. Fairhaven Home Coming Fair this Saturday in the center of town. We’ve decided to have a yard sale at my house in order to help spay & neuter the adult kitties that have been thrown out and are actively breeding!
Also I will be showing my scratching posts, Kat trees, and other items I sell in order to helpmpay for medical bills that our rescue kittens accumulate.

Story time
This little beauty came to us 3/4/24 only weighed 4.8oz figured that she was 1 1/2 weeks old. Her mama put her into a cement mixer then took off, figured that she went to get more kittens. She never returned, so we named her Yada! She was my shadow for 3 weeks until mama kitty Zucchini came to us with 3 babies, so Yada started sleeping and hanging with them. She’s been thru a lot, Coccidia and fever of 104 and different meds and quite a bit of vet bills, but no way were we giving up on this beautiful girl.
Now she’s due to get spayed next week with her adopted siblings and going to a wonderful loving home with her adopted sibling Zorro. She’s a fighter and being adopted by a very close friend of mine. Yada & Zorro won’t want for anything and the love they will have and security is definitely worth almost 4 months of love and being spoiled! I thought that my Howard was my special heart but Yada is definitely one I will never ever forget! Anyone that fears doing rescuing, understand it is so rewarding and the deepest love you can feel seeing them having a chance st a better life!

But what about the local trappers that aren’t non profit that feed ferrel communities
Honestly they feed these abandoned kitties out of they’re own pockets!
I know of three local trappers and there are quite a few out there! They would definitely appreciate this also.
