Django vs World Certified Dog Trainer documenting life 🎥 COMMUNITY. EDUCATION. PROGRESS. Many advancements have been made in recent years in the field of dog training.

In 2022, Evergreen Canine Training Academy was founded by Stevie Marie Hayes with a vision to reach dog guardians, shelters, and the community with training techniques proven to work through the years using a kind approach. Therefore, ECTA brings the most up to date education and scientifically backed training methods that will give you and your dog a happier life together.

‼️Important Announcement‼️ As the year comes to an end, I am reminded of why I was inspired to pursue dog training. With the addition of my 4th dog and my others beginning their senior years much has changed. Along the way I have learned the greatest act in the world of rescue starts within your own home.

ECTA has been a dream come true and as ECTA has grown so has the vision. My inspiration started simply with a passion in rescue & animal welfare. With that said I have made the decision this is the end for ECTA. Thank you to each and every person who has supported me 🙏❤️

Don’t worry though, this is not the end of dog training for me, only the beginning. I will be transitioning this account to Django Vs World focusing on all things dogs: education, training, the day to day lives of my own dogs (Sunny, Django, Nora, and Bruce), and shelter dogs. I will still be available for training on a much smaller scale by referral and can be contacted here or on my personal. You can also find me working at Pet Works or Tractor Supply. I hope you’ll follow along. Oh and don’t forget ✌️

✨✨✨EASY DIY INDOOR ACTIVITY✨✨✨

Before you get rid of those Chewy boxes you receive on a regular basis use them to create an easy Scavenger Hunt game for your dog 🐶 this is a great indoor activity on those rainy days- or any day ⛅️☀️🌦️

It’s easy! Toss some treats in the box with the paper. Tear some smaller pieces to place treats in and crumple up to put back in the box and done!

This easy activity is great enrichment! Your dog has to use their nose to find the treats and is good exposure to new sounds and textures for young pups still developing or working on building confidence 🐾 Here are Nora and Sunny enjoying their morning enrichment activity 🦴🦴🦴

Comment “yes” if you’d like to see more content like this 🎥

What do walks with my 4 month old puppy look like?

Using a long lead often to allow for exploration, reinforcing behaviors I’d like to see more of and integrating basic cues throughout. That includes:

🐾 Reinforcing any “check in” from Sunny whether at a distance or by my side.

🐾 Spontaneously recalling throughout our walk then releasing her on cue to continue on. One of the largest contributors to an unreliable “come” is only using it when ending something interesting for the dog. Proof the recall by gradually adding distractions and making it a normal behavior rather than only using it as an end.

🐾 Often I let Sunny take her time sniffing whatever she would like but sometimes I’d like for her to move along or it’s not appropriate for her to have her nose in so I use a “let’s go” as a follow in my direction cue.

At such a young age I want Sunny to enjoy her walks and gain confidence exploring. I’m focusing on building my relationship with her and staying the most fun thing even in a public setting rather than tightened heel work. Higher level behaviors will come with time.

I’m loving this bag I was gifted! This bag came with 2 collapsible travel bowls, a mat, treat bag, and food bag. Perfect for my active on the go lifestyle. Essentially a diaper bag for pet parents! There are so many resources and tools out there that can help make the lives of dog parents a tad bit easier. A vast variety of knowledge and recommendations for these are just one of the many assets I bring to training sessions.

BTS of working a fun challenge with Biscuit 🐕

01/29/2023

In summary: 1) Thank you for nominating me in the top 6 for The Best of Harrison County 2023. It is incredible to feel so much support from the community ❤️

2) As the pet industry and shelters are facing the crisis of being at constant maximum capacity due in large to the amount of surrenders, please take the time to consider the responsibility and work of adding a puppy or adult dog into your home. Adopting from a shelter or buying from a breeder is a lifetime commitment and no amount of training can make a dog not a dog. When or if issues do arise please seek the help of a qualified professional- not your neighbor who has always owned dogs.

3) Lastly, I am announcing the start of Meet the Trainer Tuesday. One Tuesday a month I will be at an announced place and available for potential clients, pet professionals, or anyone who loves dogs to come have a conversation with me. This Tuesday, the 31st, I will be at The Joe in Fairmont at 6pm. Please come out! I’d love to meet you!

And yes, my cat Re*****on was insistent he appear in this video 😂

Thank you all! Please like, share, follow, and vote daily! 🤍

This Thank You could not have been more perfectly needed at this time. While ECTA tries to stay overall positive in light of the realities of the struggles dog training and shelters are currently facing, it is incredibly heavy. These stories of success are the sparks of light that keep me going. Thank you for giving Judge a wonderful home. Thank you for the update. There is nothing that makes me happier than to hear how well a dog and family are doing together. Especially, one I had the honor to be a small piece of ❤️🥹

I’ve not been active on here the past couple weeks because I’ve been busy with clients training dogs 😊

With all the support I continue to receive, I’d like to introduce myself and share some personal info outside of dog training. While you can find photos or videos of myself on here I want you to feel welcomed and know who you’re reaching out to at ECTA 🌲

My name is Stevie Marie Hayes. I reside in a little town outside of the Fairmont area with my 3 rescue dogs and cat. My education background is in Criminal Justice and Philosophy. Much of my free time is spent with with my dogs. I enjoy being outdoors and love exploring the trails and day hikes WV has to offer. I have an active lifestyle and love fitness and yoga. So much so, I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training through a studio in Pittsburgh years ago. I’m a huge small business supporter with a coffee addiction and can often be found at The Joe or Stone Tower Brews. I can never have enough time for reading or podcasts. My most recent discovered hobby has been roller skating. Those close to me will easily throw out the labels hippie and old soul to describe me. I love the creativity of photography and am also the owner of Sweet Nothings by Stevie Marie. This new journey of business ownership has been a huge test for my introverted personality. I’ve loved every minute of it! I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a little about me.

As always, thank you for your continued support and feel free to reach out with any questions 💙

Roughly 2 years ago I left work at HSHC with a vision starting to form of what I wanted my future involvement in the rescue world to look like and the possibility of being able to help the dogs and adopters at the shelter that is so dear to my heart. The day is finally here and while there are still many things to learn and figure out it’s no longer just a vision. It is happening. I’m so grateful for this opportunity 🥰
