We are raising funds to adopt a family of wild mustangs from the Sand Wash Basin round up and build an indoor arena.

Berelle has spots on her spots. The dark, irregular spots (not the round ones) are called corn marks. That’s where there was damage to the skin (a kick, cut or bite) where the hair grows in dark. It’s unique to roan horses.

So excited that we are back on the list to take surplus dog and cat food! We donate it to our local food bank to help people keep their pets well fed! Thanks to Jane for coming to the farm (where Luck and Berelle said hello by standing in front of her car blocking the driveway) to pick it up!

Speaking of which, it’s time to start stocking up on winter hay. We got a deal on 10 large bales for $1250 but that’s just a drop in the bucket. Congratulations to one of our many STAR volunteers, Vanessa! She just started a new college on her way to a veterinary medicine degree and is helping care for horses in a study on equine metabolic syndrome - we are so excited for her future!

This happens to non profits all over the country - please ignore them when they pop up. We block them as quickly as possible but it’s usually 3-5 profiles making dozens of comments.

For the first time since June of 2021 our Mustang pen is empty. Now our school horses will have access to more shelter but what would you like to see? We are looking at fostering but we may have found a permanent placement for that horse instead. We are considering adopting younger horses and adopting those out to qualified adopters after training.
But you know - all it takes is money! Let me know your ideas and be aware that we will be spending the fall and winter formulating a plan and preparing so we can do the most good with our resources.

We’ve been busy. Tomorrow is the last day of our Annual Veterans’ Retreat! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our event. It means so much to us! And if you ever been on the fence about it it’s not too late to pitch in!
