Dealing with a pet that has a habit of eating stool can be challenging, but there are steps you can take to address this behavior. First, ensure your pet’s diet is nutritionally balanced, as deficiencies can lead to this habit. Regularly clean your yard or litter box to minimize access. Training your pet commands like leave it can be effective, especially if you catch them in the act. Providing plenty of mental and physical stimulation through play can also reduce boredom-related behaviors. If the problem persists, consult with us at Fairport Animal Hospital to rule out any medical issues that could be contributing.
