Merry Christmas from the Doctors and Staff of Animal Hospital Fairview Park! And Loki!
Pine pollen
Walking past this pine tree we saw what looks like smoke. Watch carefully in the middle area of the pine tree. You will see what looks like smoke coming from the tree when the birds move. It is actually just lots of pine pollen. No wonder so many pets ( and people ) have allergies this time of year.
We are open. The parking lot is plowed. It’s cold but we are here!
Fluffy needs to be adopted.
Can you help Fluffy out? She wants to get a new forever home and get away from her brothers. They will be available in the next couple weeks. Contact Kamm’s Cat Guardian for more adoption information.

Head bunting in cats
Dear Tabby,
My cat likes to rub his face against things such as a corner of a wall or on me. What is he doing? Does his mouth hurt?
Tabby’s answer - No, his mouth is probably ok, but he is “head bunting “ to mark the surface with his scent. We cats use scent to let other cats know that they are in our territory or that the item (like you) is claimed by us. Other cats can smell the pheromones that scent glands around our mouth or forehead release when we rub on something. Don’t worry, your nose is too weak to be able to smell our pheromones.
So when your cat bunts (rubs) against something, he is just telling the other cats that he was there. It’s a kind of Facebook for us cats.
This is my friend, Rory, who offered to demonstrate how to do a proper head bunt.
It’s National Dog Day! Show us photos of your best friend!
Looking for a new way to enrich your dog’s day? Make them a ball pit and use it to feed them. Fargo will demonstrate just how much fun your dog can have with this. This will slow down their speed of eating and gives the a great mental challenge. #canineenrichment
Happy Mother’s Day.
