During turnout this morning I noticed just how much progress this eye has made. Since I see it everyday I thought I’d do a little comparison. The first photo is Keeley at two weeks old in March with a diagnosed scratch/ulcer in her eye which developed into melting cornea. The photo on the right is from today(at 8months). An amazing recovery. Eye saved, vision saved, minimal scarring to hopefully continue to improve as she grows but her eyes require constant care and to be kept from the UV rays we keep her in a fly mask during turnout. Imagine training a weanling to wear a mask 😂 not easy!

We have doors! They are not complete since the handles are not yet on them, and the concrete is poured next week. But the doors, lovely lovely doors. ❤️ I can’t wait to hang some great big wreaths on these bad boys

Big things are happening, occasionally requiring some heavy and creative lifting 😂 we are so lucky to have people around who are willing to help, contractor and neighbor jumped in to get these skids off the semi for us, our smaller 55hp tractor wasn’t going to cut it on this job

We had a busy day this Saturday with the arrival of two pregnant mares ❤️who came for a week of maternity sitting while thier parents are away on vacation and a few friends from the stable down the road who came over to ride ponies!

It’s getting close to one of my favorite holidays! Halloween 🎃 ! While I love to decorate I haven’t been able to since we are still under construction, but it would seem nature has taken care of that for me. Found on the underside of a water trough while cleaning it. Careful where you stick your hands, out at the farm. Shake your gloves, shoes and helmets out always. These little ladies don’t necessarily want to bite you, but they will let you know they are there if you invade their space. 😖 and it really hurts.

Today the concrete pour began. We all are very excited, but some of us more than others…. Much like the freshly groomed arena, Murphy beat me to it. Thank goodness for kind contractors

Is that the light at the end of the tunnel? Or is that the 2x6 inch tounge and groove that just arrived?! A little of both I think. concrete next! Then we finish the walls with T&G, a beautiful interior feature that provides a safe area for horses and a bit of insulation / sound proofing for a homey barn anyone can be comfortable in.

Golden hour and sisterly love abounds ❤️ we genuinely care and love our animals and we also respect how our boarders want to train their horses. We might all walk a different path but our goal is the same, healthy happy honest equine citizens.

“Build it and they will come”. That’s been our hope for some time now and when you embark on such a large endeavor and investment there is always some part of you that questions what you are doing. But the reward comes in creating a useful and beautiful space, for boarders that is safe. Quinn and Megan Gray came riding today and worked their horses on a beautiful autumn evening. Thanks for being part of our family.

At some point during the maturing process, a switch flips and men become obsessed with grass and mowing. 😂 John has put his skills and love of grass cultivation to work out here and wow do our pastures look beautiful. It’s that feeling of freshly manicured 21 acres that’s just so satisfying. Thank you John Cieslukowski❤️.

👉This is a great opportunity for people already familiar with the Downunder Horsemanship Method or people wanting to know more!

❓I will discuss the philosophy behind the method and we will review the exercises in the Fundamentals. I’ll provide one-on-one help and answers to questions.

🐎 Participants bring their own horses. All breeds/disciplines welcome. Horses must be able to be handled in a group setting. No stallions.

Breezy Meadow Equine is officially home to the ECHF Amateur Jr Weanling Mare Champion! We are so proud of her at 5.5mo ths old and only three trainable months ahead of this show because of our little eye fiasco she did so well. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from her and we look forward to watching her grow. She also placed 5th in the open color class against professionals and amateurs and horses of all ages very proud of that pretty little filly! (We clearly got caught here taking a little rest 😂)

Today is the day! We have been prepping for this moments for 5 months and it’s finally here! No matter what the results are at the end of the day we won. Two healthy baby horses stand here today waiting to compete with me and my family and husband. We have taught them to halter, lead, stand, load, lung, trims from the ferrier, blanketing fly spraying washing and clipping. It’s no small feat when it’s all new and it leaves me with a huge appreciation for a different discipline.

We have a boarder taking thier horse home at the end of the month! we are so happy for them! But that does mean there is a space open at our farm for pasture board! We have group turnout and options for private turnout as well. Call to setup a visit! Barn build in progress!

Load your horses! Getting a horse on the trailer is not just to go to a show or a trail ride. Making sure you can get your horse in the trailer when it counts can save their life and keep you safe. Practicing regularly can ensure that if an emergency happens and you or your barn owner have to take your horse to the vet, it can be done safely and with as little stress as possible. Five months ago our two week old had been diagnosed with melting cornea, a trip to the university of tennesee was the only choice. We scheduled our visit for 7am at the vet jn knoxville and I worried all night about how John and I would get her on the trailer along with a very big and lactating mare who I had never loaded because “she was pregnant”. After getting up every two hours to give the eye medicine we woke up at 5am to load them. Through some miracle our mare walked into the trailer and John football playered the two week old baby with her. We shut the door and never looked back until we arrived.

I will never again gamble my horses well being, my own or my husbands on loading.

So… today it was the weanling and yearlings turn to practice. They were all three so brave and right on they went like old pros.

If you don’t own your own trailer ask a friend or your barn owner to help you practice, you can be certain they will oblige.

When you apply for a job, your resume is key. It’s what prospective employers look at to determine if your qualified. At boarding stables, our resume is the horses we care for and our own. When your considering a place to keep your horse. Don’t focus only on the arena, the barn and tack room… look at the field and the animals at the farm; not just the horses but the cats and dogs etc. It’s a good indicator of how your animal will be cared for. Are they livestock or a member of the family? (But if your wondering… we don’t just have healthy happy animals, we will also have the frills of those bigger stables with a private setting 😉 comming soon!)
