Time!

Loki deserved the "Pet Of The Week" award for being the best boy for his visit.
He was bite by another dog near his eye and came to see us for a laceration repair. We needed to use clippers to remove the hair to see the wound a lot better. Loki sat for the clippers passing underneath his eye without a bark or shaking his head. He was also so good while we cleaned the wound. His Dad was so shocked at how brave he was! Huskies are known to vocalize their opinions during vet visits.

He got cookies for being such a brave boy and gave us the sweetest smile on his way out the door.

Happy to our loving pet community!

This weeks pet tip | Canine Communication🐾🐩🐕🐶
The ASPCA tell us that these are the reasons dogs bark.

-Territorial Barking: A response to intruders, be it people or animals.
-Alarm Barking: A response to specific sounds or sights.
-Attention-Seeking: To gain a reward or attention.
-Greeting: Much like a person’s “Hi,” a dog will bark when encountering a person, and it’s usually a relaxed, non-confrontational bark.
-Compulsive Barking: This may be for no apparent reason, but the dog gets agitated and may pace.
-Socially Facilitated: A response to another dog barking.
-Frustration-Induced: A response to confinement or separation.

You can calm a barking dog using strategies such as desensitization, use of trained commands, removal of the offending object, anti-stress devices, or boredom alleviation.

It’s never a good idea to use harsh or intimidating tactics. Instead, it’s best to understand why your dog is barking and deploy a tactic to refocus their attention.

If needed, hire a professional to lend a hand.

Did you know that double tapping this photo counts as a "Boop" for Goose?!!??

♥️💙🤍

This cute puppy golden came in for not feeling like himself. He was having diarrhea, vomiting, and having less of an appetite. The doctor gave the team a plan involving hydration (SQ Fluids), nausea meds, and meds to help with diarrhea.

🐾Goose was interested in food while still in our care and got triple doses of TLC from our crew before going home! The owner will follow up with their primary veterinarian.

Well wishes and a speedy recovery, Goose!

It's another Community Pet Tip Friday!
The indoor/outdoor cat experience | Is it okay to let my cat out for the evening?

At UrgentVet, we say no, and here’s why:

-Disappearance – Cats can go missing.
-Hit by a car – Night driving makes it harder to see cats.
-Predators – Many animals come out at night, and your cat could become prey.
-Illness & disease – Cats can come into contact with sick animals.
-Toxic ingestion – Outdoor cats may encounter poison or other animals that have ingested poison.
-Animal cruelty – Roaming cats may fall victim to abuse.

If you suspect your cat has encountered any of these dangers while outdoors, come see us. We have the diagnostic tools to help unravel the mystery of what’s happened, so we can get them on the road to recovery.
We’re here weekdays from 3 PM to 11 PM and weekends from 10 AM to 8 PM. We’ll also be here on Labor Day from 12 PM to 8 PM.

What is UrgentVet? Think of us like urgent care for pets. 🐾

In human healthcare, you see your regular doctor for wellness visits and planned procedures, and you go to the ER when it’s life-threatening. For everything in between, you visit urgent care.

The same applies to veterinary care! Pets visit their regular vet for checkups and vaccinations, and the emergency vet for serious, life-threatening issues. We’re here for everything in between—like cuts, bites, itching, diarrhea, vomiting, limping, scooting, and more.

Save your spot online or just walk in. We’re open weekdays 3 PM to 11 PM and weekends 10 AM to 8 PM.

Did you know certain flowers are toxic to cats? 💐

While they may look beautiful and smell wonderful, some flowers can be dangerous to our feline friends. If you love having flowers at home or your cat explores the garden, be sure to choose “cat-safe” options like Roses, Sunflowers, Zinnias, and Marigolds. 🌸

08/17/2024

With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.

Meet Loki! This cute little mixed pup came in for continued diarrhea. He was adopted less than 48 hours before his visit with us and was battling diarrhea prior to his adoption.
We started him on a digestive/bowel support medication to improve his stool. His Dad will continue to monitor until he meets his new primary care veterinarian.

Wishes of a speedy recovery go out to Loki and his family. We appreciate you trusting us😊

Happy Pet Tip Friday to our community❤🩵❤🐾!
| Pet Hygiene🐩🐈

Washing your pet's toys, blankets, and bedding removes germs, dirt, pollen, burrs, small hitchhiking bugs, and other irritants. Some furry friends suffer from seasonal allergies, so it's important to wash their bedding regularly.
This is also a great time to clean their food and water dishes and tidy up the area where they eat and sleep.

🐶🐾 Zoe here (adorable dog) guest-posting for UrgentVet.

I had a little adventure recently—I escaped from the house for a few minutes! It was super exciting, but I ended up with a small wound on my side. Boo! My pet parent took me straight to UrgentVet to get fixed up. The team there took great care of me. They were so nice, I hardly even noticed I was at the “scary vet’s office” (lol). They treated my owie, and now I’m on antibiotics to help me heal. 🩹💊 Thanks, UrgentVet! Can’t wait for more adventures (safe ones!).

Hey Gasper, say cheese! 🧀🐕🤍🐾

Say hello to this handsome pit named Gasper. He came in vocalize from pain. His eyes were so sweet, and he was still interested in all the love the team offered, even though he was uncomfortable. The doctor made sure we got him the pain medications he needed.

We distracted him while giving him an injection with cheese. This is the of keeping our patients feeling safe during treatments. He didn't even notice anything was happening during the injection. Gasper just wanted more cheese😁

He got medication to go home, and his will do a follow-up up with their primary veterinarian.
We loved every moment with him and dubbed him "Likely to be "

At we’re here to help provide quick relief from troubling skin conditions like itching, rashes, and hot spots.
Don't believe us? Ask Captain!

This handsome guy came in early this week for spots on his belly. He also had irritation on his inner thigh area and paws. The owner noticed him not acting like himself.

We like to get blood work to rule out any cause that may be internal. Thankfully, results were within normal parameters. From there, the doctor prescribed him medicated mousse and oral meds to start at home.

Captain was so brave during his visit with us. We'd like to thank his parents for trusting us with him. Well wishes and speedy recovery to you, little one🐾

Can you spot the love?🥰🐕

Meet Jackson!

This handsome Dalmatian came into our clinic for a dog bite wound. Although he experienced something very scary, he arrived ready to give as many kisses and get as many belly rubs as possible.

The doctor was able to clean his wounds, send him home with medications, and give him a "Cone of Love" (to prevent licking). We wish him and his family well♥️💙🤍

Our practice manager is pictured here as well! Meet Shawntaye🐾

Happy Pet Tip Friday to our community❤🩵🤍!

| Traveling with your pet?

Set you and your furry friend up for a successful trip by carefully packing their essentials. Bring food, a bowl, a collar and leash, a waste scoop, plastic bags, grooming supplies, medication and first-aid, and any travel documents. Pack a favorite toy or pillow to give your pet a sense of familiarity. Be sure to pack plenty of water, and avoid feeding your pet in a moving vehicle.

Your pet's travel-feeding schedule should start with a light meal three to four hours prior to departure, and always opt for bottled water. Drinking water from an area he or she isn’t used to could result in stomach discomfort.

Finally, research veterinary care options along the way and at your final destination just in case you need them. has 83 locations nationwide to help with local and visiting pets in need of same-day care🐾!
