Last week at , we had the pleasure of caring for a beautiful female Calico cat named Mia who came in with an upper respiratory infection (URI).

She had been sneezing, coughing, and dealing with eye discharge, congestion, and even wheezing. Poor girl wasn’t feeling her best, but she was such a trooper through it all! 💕🐾

After running a minor blood panel to ensure we could give her the best care possible, we administered fluids under her skin to help bring down her fever and gave her an antibiotic injection to kick-start her recovery. She left with her purr-sonality starting to shine through again!

🐾 **Fantum’s Visit to ** 🐾

Meet Fantum, a sweet Dalmatian who came in after tearing his nail. Poor guy was feeling anxious (understandably so!), but our compassionate team gave him the gentle care he needed. 💙

With some pain medication to keep him comfortable, we safely sedated Fantum to remove the damaged nail. A bandage was placed (matching his coat), and he went home with anti-inflammatory meds and antibiotics to help him heal like the superstar he is! 🌟

Who's the cutest puppy that visited us recently?

🐾 Meet Rudy!
A brave 9-week-old Rottweiler puppy who visited after injuring his left hind leg. Poor Rudy was in pain and not putting any weight on it. 😢

After giving him an injectable pain medication to help him feel more comfortable, we took X-rays to check for fractures or swelling. Thankfully, everything looked good—no fractures or soft tissue damage! 🙌 Our doctor prescribed strict rest and oral pain meds to ensure Rudy gets back to his playful self soon. 🐶💙

And of course, Rudy won our hearts as *Cutest Puppy of the Day!* 🏆✨

🐾 **Patient Spotlight: Barney** 🐾

Here at , we had a brave little visitor, Barney, a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. Poor Barney tore his dewclaw, and we know how painful that can be for our furry friends! 💔

Here’s what we did to help him feel better:
✔️ Administered injectable pain meds for immediate relief.
✔️ Trimmed away the fur around the injured nail for better care.
✔️ Thoroughly cleaned the area with a medical wound solution to prevent infection.
✔️ Sent him home with an Elizabethan collar (e-collar) to keep him from licking his paw and help him heal faster.

Barney was such a trooper through it all! 🐶💙 We’re rooting for a speedy recovery for this sweet pup. If your pet ever experiences an injury or needs urgent care, we’re here to help!

Meet Maia!

A 6-year-old female cat who came in with a case of vomiting and a loss of appetite. 😿 After assessing her condition with our Doctor, we administered fluids to keep her hydrated, an anti-vomiting injection to help settle her stomach, and a B12 injection to support her overall health. 💉

Wishing her a full recovery and continued moments of spreading her toe beans (slide two🐾🥰).

We appreciate our great crew members who are always ready to cuddle after giving care!

🐾 Meet Lu, the adorable 8-week-old kitten who came to feeling a bit under the weather. 😿 She’s been sneezing and coughing a lot lately, and her owner noticed these symptoms started just a couple of days ago. But don’t worry, we were on it! 🐱💉

After a check-up, we gave little Lu some hydration (SQ fluids), an anti-vomiting injection, and a boost of Vitamin B12 to help her feel better. We also sent her home with antibiotics to help fight off her Upper Respiratory Infection.

Sweet Lu was adopted just a few days ago, and we hope she’ll be back to her playful self in no time! 💖🐾 We recommended a follow-up with her regular vet for the best care.

The holiday season is always full of surprises and touching stories, but this particular one warmed the hearts of our team. This past Thanksgiving, Jenn, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and one of her Girl Scouts, Anita, entered our clinic with a feral cat. Anita had been caring for this furry friend, who had made her neighborhood its home for the past three years. One evening, she called Jenn desperately seeking help after she discovered that her furry friend had been attacked and was near death.

Jenn sprang into action, bringing Anita and Ember into UrgentVet Cary, NC. She was prepared to have the difficult conversation with Anita, explaining that the cat might not survive the attack. Thanks to the UrgentVet Cary team, Ember is almost fully recovered! Jenn reports that Anita has been doing an amazing job looking after him and his wound as he continues to recover at her house.

Anita was prepared to sacrifice all the money her mom had saved for her Christmas presents to save Ember’s life. While Jenn had the resources to help, and our team had the means to save Ember, we knew this story didn’t end there.

The team at UrgentVet Cary was so touched by Anita’s dedication this animal in-need, that they rewarded her with a $300 gift card. We hope she continues to nurture her love for animals, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things Anita will do in the future!

🚨 **UrgentVet Falls Church Update!** 🚨

Meet Jack, a sweet and gentle kitty who came in with a loss of appetite. 😿 We quickly assessed him and got to work — rehydrating him with subcutaneous fluids and giving him an anti-vomiting injection to help him feel better. 🙏

Jack’s owners left with a prescription for appetite stimulants to help him get back to his healthy, happy self at home. We’re wishing this adorable boy a speedy recovery! 💚

🚨🐱 Meet Cheeto, the cutest kitty with a big *meow*!! 🐾

This sweet furball came to us with some very vocal concerns while using his litter box. 🐾 After a thorough checkup, we found that Cheeto's bloodwork was all good, but X-rays revealed something surprising – stones in his bladder! 😿 We also spotted crystals in his urine under the microscope. Yikes!

But don’t worry, Cheeto’s not alone in this! We gave him an injection for pain relief, sent him home with some meds, and recommended a diet change to keep his bladder happy. 🍽️ His paw-some owners will follow up with his regular vet to figure out the next steps for tackling those stones. 🐾

We’re sending lots of love to our little orange buddy, and we’re sure he’ll be feeling better in no time! 💛

🐾 Meet Cleo! 🐾

This sweet 5-year-old Chihuahua came to UrgentVet Falls Church with vomiting and diarrhea, and we were determined to help her feel better! 💖

After performing a thorough exam, we did some diagnostics:
- X-rays (no signs of obstruction)
- Bloodwork
- Fecal test (all clear!)

We gave Cleo fluids to rehydrate, an anti-vomiting injection, and sent her home with medication to help her recover. 🏠💊

Cleo was such a trooper during her visit, staying sweet and calm throughout her treatments! 🐶💕

We’re wishing Cleo a speedy recovery and can’t wait for her to feel back to her bouncy self soon! 💕

While you’re prepping for tomorrow’s feast, keep these tips in mind to keep your furry family safe:
🍗 Watch the menu. Avoid sharing turkey bones, rich foods, or anything with onions, garlic, or spices.
🧺 Secure the trash. Curious noses can find harmful leftovers.
🍫 Skip the sweets. Chocolate, xylitol, and raisins are toxic to pets.

🍬 Hide the candy - Chocolate and sugar-free treats can be toxic, so keep them far from curious noses.
🕯️ Skip the candles - Battery-operated lights are a safer bet around wagging tails.
🚪 Calm the chaos - If your pet gets nervous with all the doorbell ringing, set them up in a quiet room with their favorite toy.
🦴 Keep costumes comfy - If your pet's not into dressing up, a festive collar works just as well!

Tate the cat got himself into quite a catch! 🐟

This adventurous kitty ran out of the house and came back with a fish hook stuck in his paw. His owner rushed him to UrgentVet, where we carefully removed the hook and made sure he was comfortable.
