Hello everyone! An update for anyone who may be interested in future litters…

Kona recently had a few dates with her boyfriend Guy (the sire of her first litter of pups) and we are hopeful for a fall litter. It will be a while until we know if the breeding was successful, but if all goes well we expect puppies born in very early October. They’d be ready to head to their new homes in late November after Thanksgiving.

I’ll be sure to post again once we have confirmation of a litter on the way! 🙂

Congratulations to Cindy at Lycinan Goldens and to her gorgeous boy Joey.

Joey finished his championship today!

Joey has sired two of our litters (the coffee crew and the pasta pups) and is the grandsire of our current litter (the cheesy pups). Our girl Kona (his daughter) looks so much like him!

Tonight we did our traditional litter photo with all of the pups before the first of them head off to their new homes this weekend.

We enlisted the help of our kids and their cousins and all I can say is… what a hot mess! 😂🥰

Here are the “best” photos we could muster. 5 kids plus 8 puppies = adorable chaos!

We got mama Kona in a few of the shots, too! (She’s wearing a bodysuit that allows her to play with the pups without them nursing on her… she weaned them a few weeks ago and she won’t hang around to play with them if they’re biting at her belly!)

This is just one reason why our pups live in our home (not outside or in a kennel) from the day they’re born until the day they leave with their new families. We want them to be well-socialized to many different things, including loud scary noises.

Between 7 and 11ish weeks of age a puppy will go through a “fear stage” where they develop their responses to scary stimuli in their environment. It’s essential to expose them to new things in a very positive and encouraging way that won’t overwhelm them, fostering their confidence and independence.

Look at those curious faces and wagging tails! Love them.

Can’t believe we have arrived at their final week with us… they grow so fast.

The puppies had their wellness visit with our awesome vet Dr. D this morning! They each had a full exam and their first shots. Dr. D’s professional opinion is that they are perfect and absolutely wonderful! We kinda knew that already, but it’s nice to have a doctor of veterinary medicine confirm our opinion. 🙂

The pups also had their first car ride and did very well. They settled right down and slept during the drive. Then they passed out at home after all the excitement.

The Battle of the Ball: featuring Reggie and Bleu

Kona has a group of admirers who follow her wherever she goes! :)

One of my favorite things to do for puppy enrichment is toddler toys. Given that toddler toys are made to ensure the safety of curious human babies who put everything in their mouths… it makes sense that these toys are also good for curious *canine* babies who also put everything in their mouths! A crowd favorite is this little piano. The pups get to enjoy something new that makes noise and lights up. It’s a great way for them to build confidence with new experiences. Plus, there’s just something about a puppy playing a piano that is peak-level cute! 🙂

Following up on last night’s poll… the puppies are all very close in size. All are between 7 and 8 pounds! And the heavyweight of the bunch… is Bleu! 💙 Just behind him in weight is his brother Reggie. 🩵

Afternoon playtime… I tried to mention everyone’s names so you can try to tell them apart :)

More playtime with their great-grandma. These types of interactions teach the puppies “how to be dogs” and how they should interact with others. Olive is the perfect babysitter :)
