Harold Oaks Equitherapy

Harold Oaks Equitherapy ESMT can help improve performance, range of motion, circulation, and reduce pain/swelling in the working or pleasure horse with hands on massage
(1)

The equine body is comprised of 60% connective tissue, and 90% of elasticity comes from the muscle; it is perhaps one of the most important aspects of an athletes body. With equine sports massage therapy, there are endless benefits that help your horse to function at the highest level of pleasure and professional accuracy possible. It does this by breaking up tension and adhesions that build up i

n the muscle with time or overwork, increasing blood flow throughout the body and oxygen levels within the blood, relieves stress, improves disposition, and ultimately improves the holistic performance of your equine. Massage is great for any equine athlete in any discipline or size: pulling horses, show horses including, western pleasure, ranch pleasure, hunters/jumpers, dressage, race horses, trotters and pacers, reining and cutting horses, endurance and eventing horses, and even for the trail riding horse. It is even great for dogs, show heifers, and other bovines that could benefit from the fluidity and disposition changes that massage brings. Disclaimer: Sports Massage Therapy is not a substitute for veterinary medicine and should not be perceived as so.

No, this is not an equine, but the work benefits just the same. These pictures were taken a month apart. This calf was having some hip issues that made him stand and walk on the tips of his toes that we've worked out with about 5 sessions.

If you've ever been weary to try massage this should be proof that with a little time and patience body work can make a huge difference, no matter the species.

This is Coleman, a Jr rodeo barrel horse who has been raring and stalling on the 3rd barrel and coming out of the gate. Today was his 2nd treatment this week and fingers crossed we've got all the kinks worked out for their rodeo this weekend.
He really had a lot of tension and soft tissue adhesions to work out, but as you can see here he's stretching on his own and doing a lot of releasing, which tickles me to see during a session. Super excited to see his progress this weekend!

I love this image...

It shows just how vulnerable the young horses’ skeleton is.

Look how long it takes for the lower jaw & poll to mature.

We put bits in young mouths & in some cases force their bodies into an outline way before their skeletons have matured.

When you find the kids pool float in the barn and you decide to see how broke your client's horse really is 😂 (owner approved)

Ravi is a buggy horse I treat every month when I go to Ohio. I have worked on him religiously since febraury and every time I go back his owner says he continues to improve. Goes to show that even infrequent body work can still have lasting positive effects

“Without the horse, none of this would be possible. We owe them our lives. They give us so much and ask only for basic kindness in return. I believe that horses and humans have a connection that draws us to each other. I believe, in their own way, they know we need them, and they are pleased to be our partner, whether it be in work or sport. We need to remember never to take advantage of this privilege of working and living with horses for granted. To never lose our appreciation for what they have given us throughout the history of time, and to be sure that their relevance in our society does not fade away. This is our greatest responsibility as equestrians.” -McClain Ward

🗓Mark your calendars!🗓
We'll be set up at the Tough Enough Rodeo in Granite Falls, NC on June 29th.

‼$30 Pre and Post Event Massage Specials‼
‼$10 off deep tissue bodywork with the mention of this ad‼

Pre event massages help set your performance horse up for success by "waking up" the muscles in preparation for your event. It can increase overall blood flow, reduce muscle spasms and tension, break up superficial adhesions within soft tissue, and allows your horse to properly and freely use its body to outperform the competition. It can mean the difference between winning and not 🏆

Post Event massages are designed to aid the body in recovery after an event, flush out lactic acid buildup, reduce post event soreness, and re-establish range of motion and blood flow to tight muscles.

Considering a session before the event? Call, text, or message us directly on Facebook to schedule!
Full body-deep tissue bodywork can aid in many common issues in the performance horse including:
🔸️being girthy or cinchy
🔸️difficulty with picking up leads
🔸️cold back
🔸️decreased range of motion or flexibility
🔸️tying up or colicing
🔸️noticable decline in performance
It can also help:
🔸️increase circulation
🔸️enhance muscle tone and range of motion
🔸️inflammation and swelling of joints
🔸️speed up waste elimination within the body
🔸️lengthen connective tissue
🔸️ uneven tracking, balance and coordination

Who needs a CMT to stretch you after your bodywork when you can just do it yourself? 😂

This gorgeous warmblood got quite a bit of stretching in on her own during her session on Tuesday.
Sometimes I think horses have more personality than most people do
