Summer is here and it's time to cool down! But while pools can be a fun way to beat the heat for you, it's important to remember that not all pets are natural swimmers. Here are some safety tips to keep your furry friend safe in and around the pool:
✔️ Never leave your pet unattended around a pool.
✔️ Not all dogs are doggy paddlers! Use a life jacket for pets who are weak swimmers or unfamiliar with pools.
✔️ Teach your pet how to get out of the pool safely. Create easy-to-exit steps or ramps.
✔️ Keep pool chemicals out of reach.
✔️ Provide plenty of fresh, cool water away from the pool.
✔️ Rinse your pet off after swimming to remove chlorine or salt.
✔️ Be aware of the signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting. If you see these signs, get your pet to a cool place and contact your veterinarian immediately.

Only the groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil knows the forecast for sure. Each year on Groundhog Day, people flock to Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to await the forecast of the local rodent celebrity. Originating with German settlers, who came to Pennsylvania in the 1700s and brought their seasonal superstitions with them, legend has it that if Phil sees his shadow on February 2, the winter chill will continue. Oddly, if the weather is cloudy and he doesn’t see his shadow, we can expect warmer temperatures and early spring. Groundhog Day is a tradition to be cherished. And yes, it is also a film starring Bill Murray.
