We are seeking a passionate and responsible Animal Caretaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals, a strong work ethic, and excellent customer service skills. As an Animal Caretaker, you will be responsible for the daily care, feeding, and exercise of the animals, as well as maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Providing exceptional customer service to pet owners is also a crucial part of this role.
Responsibilities:
• Provide daily care for dogs and cats, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
• Monitor the health and behavior of the animals and report any concerns to the management.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment by cleaning kennels, play areas, and common spaces.
• Interact with pet owners and provide exceptional customer service.
• Administer medications as needed.
• Assist with check-ins and check-outs of pets.
• Ensure all animals are safe, happy, and comfortable during their stay.
• Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
• Keep accurate records of each pet’s activities and health status.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with animals preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to handle and care for large dogs and perform cleaning tasks.
• Friendly and professional demeanor with the ability to build rapport with customers.

Last night, as I (Nikki) sat on the porch basking in the serenity of my little piece of paradise, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude for each of you and your cherished pets who make this place so special.

This past year has been a grueling battle as had tendon repair surgery on my foot. Then in August, I faced a second brain tumor diagnosis and brain surgery. Stepping back and entrusting Ali with the day-to-day operations at Fargo Boarding was a vital step in my healing journey. Let's take a moment to give Ali and the rest of my team a thunderous round of applause for holding and continuing to keep everything together! Woohoo! I couldn't be prouder to have all of you by my side. Despite the challenges my diagnosis presented, everyone always rose to the occasion! 🥳😻

Reflecting on my journey, I'm reminded of my childhood dream: to turn my love for dogs into a lifelong career. From the moment my parents brought me home as a baby, my bond with Brandy, a Labrador retriever, laid the groundwork for this passion.

Some of my fondest memories revolve around playing in the red doghouse I shared with my childhood companions, a unique twist on the traditional playhouse. Visits to my cousins in Naytahwaush provided opportunities to connect with rez dogs, deepening my affection for canine companionship and learning dog behavior. I'll never forget the moment I met Kathy Sahr in the '90s at Red River Boarding Kennels. As I swam in her pool as a little girl I thought "This right here. This is what I want." Which is ironic because that is how Sally 10+ years prior to my visit decided to build Fargo Boarding after boarding her dog at Red River Boarding Kennels to bring the first Boarding kennel to Fargo.

Not long after many of my visits and I started a dog sitting business, volunteered in rescue, working at doggy daycares, to acquiring Fargo Boarding in 2020 to now immersing myself in education, learning about applied Ethology, aggression work, affective behavior, separation anxiety work, and more, and it has been pivotal in furthering my dreams for myself and the Fargo Dog Community!

As we gear up for an exciting summer at Fargo Boarding, I just want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you! Throughout my journey, dogs and cats alike have been unwavering companions, providing comfort and joy without judgment.

Your support means the world to us, and we can't wait to make wonderful memories together this summer!

🐾🏠 Today, we celebrate our friends with wagging tails and big hearts who found their second chance at love. 🐶💖 Whether they're big or small, they're curled up on the couch or exploring the great outdoors, rescue dogs remind us that every pup deserves a loving home and each dog has a unique story to tell.

Pictured are three of Nikki's four rescue pups, Annie, Beverley and Renna. Annie came all the way from the streets of Texas, Bev was found right here in Fargo roaming looking for a new home and Renna had a little different story as a sick parvo puppy needing rescue. 4 luv of dog saved both Renna and Beverley. Nikki fostered and kept both! Nikki has had many rescue dogs that have been in her life starting when she was just a small child and each one have been quite amazing in there own way!

Everyone meet Fiona! She's a delightful 4-year-old Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix who's spayed and up-to-date with her vaccinations.

Sadly, Fiona's owners are separating and can't keep her. Fiona gets along well with other dogs lives with two cats. She adores people and is fantastic with kids.

Did you happen to see Veterinarian Dr. Trevor Bjerke from Casselton Veterinary Service, Inc. talking to Valley News Live? He talked about the mysterious and deadly dog illness similar to kennel cough that is unfortunately has hit Fargo. The symptoms include chronic coughing, sneezing, lack of energy, eye or nose discharge, and difficulty breathing but most importantly LETHARGY!

We thankfully have not had any cases at FBG that we know of. *KNOCK ON WOOD*

AS ALWAYS, if your dog did have this illness or became sick, after staying, we would love for our clients to please contact us by messaging, calling or emailing so we can make our other doggy owners know right away.

We are doing everything we can to keep this nasty bug away! 🐛

The amazing story behind the invention of the Kong toy begins with a devoted dog owner named Joe Markham. Over 40 years ago, Joe was faced with a challenge - his beloved German Shepherd named Fritz had a habit of biting on rocks and sticks, which had caused serious damage to his teeth. Determined to find a solution, Joe embarked on a mission to create a toy that would keep Fritz entertained and prevent him from damaging his teeth further.

One day, while working on his vehicle, Joe accidentally dropped an axle stop with an attached bracket on the ground. To his surprise, Fritz immediately grabbed hold of it and started playing with it joyfully. Seeing his dog's excitement, Joe couldn't help but be amused by the unexpected turn of events. He turned to his friend and proudly asked, "What do you think of my new dog toy?"

His friend, though not too impressed by its appearance, humorously remarked, "Actually, it's not too pretty. It looks like an earplug from King Kong." Little did they know, those words would mark the birth of the iconic Kong toy that we know today.

And so, thanks to Joe's creative thinking and his furry friend's enthusiasm, the Kong toy came into existence. It has since become a beloved and trusted companion for countless dogs, providing them with hours of entertainment and promoting healthy dental habits.
