Did you know? “Many historical figures, such as Christopher Columbus and Queen Elizabeth I owned hounds, and Shakespeare himself wrote about them in Henry V. One fun fact that might shock you is that every purebred greyhound alive today can trace its lineage back to just one dog – King Cob – whelped in England in 1839”

These days, greyhounds are synonymous with super speed and athleticism - but this isn’t where the breed began, and the history might surprise you!

“WHY WE LOVE NATIONAL WALK YOUR DOG WEEK

Dogs give unconditional loyalty

Some argue that a dog is only loyal as long as it receives food and shelter. But if you’ve ever known a dog and witnessed its reaction when you return home or when it is reunited with a fellow four-legged friend, you know it’s about more than that.

Dogs are a man's best friend

Dogs have been considered man’s closest friend for a very long time. The unique bond between a person and their dog can last for a lifetime.

Walks are therapeutic

Animal-assisted therapy is linked to reduced anxiety, pain, and depression in people suffering from a variety of mental or physical health issues. The exercise is good for both the owner and the pet.”

Alright, the great debate! What leash do you walk your pet with? Let us know in the comments what your favorite go to is!

Our Vet Techs here recommend a traditional nylon or leather leash, with a collar or chest harness for easy walking. The less “tech” the better when coming into the office if your pet needs vaccines or a once over, so our veterinary staff can work on your pet quickly and efficiently without stressing your pet with vests and jackets! However we do love seeing your pets dressed up for the holiday seasons! Don’t forget about our Halloween costume drawing at the end of the month!
