Kids With Puppies was the brainchild of Sherri in 2012 after we purchased our first family dog in nearly a decade. In our family's search for a new puppy we found lots of disturbing information about the practices of puppy mills/farms, as well as the practices of many of the larger pet store chains. We eventually ended up buying Rex, an AKC registered Golden Retriever from a local family who menti
oned that they too found these puppy mills distasteful and had consequently allowed their two Golden Retrievers to breed as nature took its course. Allowing people to buy well bred Golden Retrievers without paying exorbitant prices, or having to deal with the ethical dilemma of buying from a puppy mill. After bringing Rex home and rediscovering that training a dog, particularly in a a large family like ours, can be a whole family job, Sherri decided that breeding a small number of dogs each year would be a good exercise in responsibility for the children. After a year or so of doing some research and working with one of Steph's future in-laws who happened to be a vet. Kids With Puppies was born with the idea that we as a family can raise puppies properly with all of the puppies and the older dogs getting plenty of attention from not only the children in our family, but family friends and others who are always welcome to visit and play with puppies (because let's be honest, who doesn't love that?). By not being a big name breeder we are able to keep our prices much lower than most places, while still being able to help people find beautiful puppies that are already well acclimated to people as well as other dogs.
