Our county shelter had 35 intakes yesterday and is FULL. If you adopt from Collin County Animal Shelter before the end of January we will offer a special discount on our training programs. If you can't adopt please share their post and help get the word out!

We tried to squeeze every ounce of outdoor fun in that we could before the cold weather came back. Playtime after training sessions is important for your dog's mind and body to relax and have fun!

It has been a week at K-9 Bootcamp! The trainees are doing wonderful but the leader of our pack, Hilton, has sustained a minor injury so the trainees have had the pleasure of working with Christine, Ashley, and the girls. They are loving it although they are going to get some extended training due to the delay. We are so grateful to our families for working with us during this unexpected adventure. Christine took everyone out for some playtime after working on manners and commands so they could have some fun! It has been nice to enjoy the lovely weather as we prepare for more cold this weekend.🥶

SNOW DAYS 2025!!!!! Some of our friends LOVED the snow! Others thought it was a bit weird and just wanted to take care of business and go back into the warm building with snuggly blankets:) All of us at HBI are just glad that we only experience this once or twice a year. Snow is a lot of work!

Well 2025 is going to start with a bang. We are preparing for a winter storm in the next few days with some promised snow (a rare thing in Texas)! We are behind in introducing this class so please forgive our tardiness. We are hoping to have snow pics to post on Thursday or Friday (depending on Mother Nature) so we will be a little off schedule.
This group has several sets of siblings, puppies, and some more mature dogs. It is a wonderful group full of different personalities. Please help us welcome the January 2025 Class!

Hank (German Shepherd) is learning the act of asking permission. Most puppies do not know how to communicate so they jump up to tell you to interact with them (scratching you in the process). After learning the SIT command we teach them to use SIT to ask to interact, get onto furniture, go up or down stairs, and through doors. Most humans have the expectation of not being jumped on but until we teach them what we do want they fall back to what comes naturally.

We are LOVING the cooler weather! Our playtime outdoors was a welcome change of pace!

Introducing our October 2024 class! We are looking forward to the cool front coming next week, but in the meantime, we are taking advantage of our indoor play area, toys, and bubbles!

Pretzel is about as fun as they come! She is a baby Dauchshund and is learning to use her teeth for toys and not people😉#jollypets #ruffdawgtoys

Full speed ahead....

We have completed Week 1 of training and have been having lots of fun! We are grateful for our air-conditioned "dog house" in these last few days of summer!

Gypsy is a 1 year old German Shepherd mix who is available for adoption. She was left at one of our client's properties and they have graciously paid for Gypsy to attend our Basic Training Bootcamp. Gypsy is a star student! She knows all of her Basic Commands (sit, down, stay, come, and heel) as well as 4 corrective commands (out, off, leave it, and enough). She knows her commands in verbal and hand commands. She knows her commands in English and German as well. She has wonderful house manners and is fully crate trained and potty trained. She is up to date on all vaccines, has been microchipped, and spayed. She is friendly with other dogs, cats, kids, and even chickens!
