MDGA registerable twin doelings. Their LongVu Lamancha granddam averaged 2 gallons of milk a day! These girls should be good home milkers. Their dam is an F1, sire is F2. One has ears, the other does not! LOL. Both have blue eyes and loads of personality. They are eating and drinking like champs and really would love to stay together.

Lots of kids here at DragonLair Farm.....ADGA/AGS Recorded Grade Lamanchas, Nigerian Dwarfs and Nubians. I also have 4 MDGA Mini Lamancha kids, twin does and twin bucks! I lost several due to Cache Valley Virus, a rather heart breaking virus that attacks the kids in their first 2 months of gestation causing miscarriages, fetal deaths, deformed limbs in the kids and little to no milk production in the dam, potential sterility and kidding problems. Once the animal has it, they are immune to it thereafter. It cannot be spread from goat to goat or other mammals, it is spread by mosquito. Other mammals can get it, also, including humans. It hit my area of Maine starting in 2021, I had never heard of it but then found out about it after having dead kids, deformed kids that had to be put to sleep, open does that were confirmed pregnant and no milk from my high producing does. The vet said that it is now part of our lives, so expect a certain percentage of goats to have it each year. Breeding does in the early winter when mosquitos are dead is the only way to help prevent it, however, with the climate warming up, I had mosquitos in December! No vaccine or treatment at this time. I had 1 doeling born last year with deformed body parts, another born extra tiny and weak and 1 born this year with really crooked legs, back and neck, weighing in at less than a pound. The back and neck straightened out, but the legs remain wonky. She gets around really well, as does the one from last year. A Nubian buckling was born this year, full term singleton, who weighed 1 pound and was so tiny and weak, he couldn't nurse even if he could reach moms teats! He was even tinier than the newborn Nigerians. His high producing dam kidded with no milk/colostrum at all, though she did start producing small amounts after a week of being milked twice a day. My CVV kids will be staying here for life, I don't want them going anywhere to be abused or mistreated. Despite their issues, they are adorable and sweet.

Anyway, I will include pictures as the days go by or some of my kids. Any interest in any one of them, just send me a PM.

AGS Nigerian Dwarf buckling. Weaned and ready to go. Disbudded, black with white and moons spots, blue eyes. Sire is Humble Acres LB Volt. His sire constantly produces kids with lots of dairy character, whether they be standard or Nigerians. This little guy is long, level and has a lot of width for udder, rumen and lung capacity. I am going to be cross registering his dam with ADGA, so this guy should be able to be double registered, too.

Kidding season starts the beginning of April. I will have Standard and Mini Lamancha, Standard and Mini Nubian and Oberian kids available. The sire to the Minis is an extremely well bred black, blue eyed, moon spotted Nigerian dwarf buck. Kidding season was spread out, so I will have kids coming up until June. A deposit will hold the kid until weaning, or you can take and bottle feed them yourself! Unless otherwise arranged, all kids will be disbudded, put on cocci prevention and treated for worms, if needed.

11/13/2015

I am breeding the girls for April and May kids. I will have Lamanchas, Nubians, and coming this year- Minis! I recently purchased and extremely well bred Nigerian Dwarf buck to be bred to several of my does. I will have a limited number of F1 Mini Nubians, Mini Manchas, Mini Alpines and Oberians for sale this spring. I plan on pulling the doelings at birth and bottle raising "pasteurized", so all doelings and any bucklings reserved before birth, will be pulled at birth and available to go to their new homes after they are 2 days old for a reduced price. I'll get some pictures posted of my bucks and does here soon.

09/09/2014

So, I guess I am a little behind in posting pics of the kids. I have 6 kids left, 4 are staying. I will show the ones for sale first. All are Lamancha's, though some are crosses with Lamancha characteristics! The red one (Foxy Lady) and the white one (Snowblind) are for sale.

04/15/2014

Kidding season, I am going to start posting each kid, as all but 1 or 2 will be for sale. Way too many goats here at DragonLair!

So, today my little PB Nubian Trillium gave birth to twins by Vanr my (currently leased out) American Nubian buck sire by a Saada buck. Trillium is a 2nd freshener and wow, her udder is nice! Her daughter from last year, a full sibling to these 2 born today, is maturing into a nicer doe than their mom! All of Vanrs kids are the same, no matter the dam. Long, dairy and the does have such milkable teats and nice udders. All have been great improvements over their dams. These 2 newborns will be for sale. A deposit will hold until weaning. The doeling is in the first pic, she has the white top knot. The buckling is solid, no white at all! They were 2 hours old when the pictures were taken.
