We all know it as "the cone of shame" but it actually has a fancier name! The Elizabethan Collar (aka E-collar) is widely used in the veterinary industry to prevent pets from worsening certain ailments. The E-Collar isn't always popular fashion with pets and over time alternatives have been created, such as the tubular collar. These are both important tools for your pet's healing and should be used as directed. Learn more about them here, from VCA!: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/dog-behavior-problems-elizabethan-collars

With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.

Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, itโ€™s extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when theyโ€™re around water.

If you think your pet has been exposed, take them to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital and contact the ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.
