We’ve had one heck of a busy summer over here! Now that Summer has come and gone, Arrow M Equine Therapy is back in full swing with a few new exciting services to offer you! Every horse that has been in my program has been given top quality care and is treated as an individual, since no horse is the same! Each horse has their own specific needs and Arrow M Equine Therapy can keep them on target so they can hit the bullseye with their success! ‼️ 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙮 ‼️
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘶𝘴 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘭𝘦

📌 ʟᴏᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ:

-The Splenius muscle is one of the many muscles that is located along a horses neck. You’ll find that this muscle begins at the top of the horses poll and ends mid wither.

📌 ꜰᴜɴᴄᴛɪᴏɴ:

Its function is to elevate, flex laterally, extend, and stabilize the head and neck!

📌 ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ ᴏꜰ ᴘᴀɪɴ:

In my experience working on this muscle, I’ve found that horses with a sore Splenius muscle will present with symptoms such as poll sensitivity, moving their head/neck away from pressure, head tossing, or owners have mentioned under saddle that their horse is stiff or reluctant to flex one way or the other. Some horses are more reactive than others!

📌 ᴘᴏꜱꜱɪʙʟᴇ ᴘᴀɪɴ ꜱᴏᴜʀᴄᴇꜱ:

Various reasons can cause soreness within this muscle. For example, over use or prolonged lateral flexion which can lead to strains, over compensation, or type of discipline/rider. Without this muscle functioning properly your horse cannot feel or perform at its very best!

- Take a look at the muscle definition just after one 10 minute session this morning. It’s absolutely incredible to see the VISIBLE changes between last night and this morning after the session. The leg was cold hosed twice yesterday, once in the morning and once in the evening. The day 2 picture was taken yesterday evening. As you can see, the swelling is still prominent after cold hosing it. On Day 3 after the Magnawave session you can visible see that the swelling went down. -
