Franklin County Animal Shelter

Franklin County Animal Shelter Until they find their families, they're a part of ours. We provide medical treatment including vaccinations and sterilization to all animals prior to adoption.

Since 1974, our purpose has been to provide temporary care and shelter to stray, homeless, and abandoned animals. FCAS serves the community as an adoption facility where loving families and pets needing homes come together. The shelter strives to educate the public in the proper care of pets including increasing public awareness of the companion animal overpopulation issue.

Yay! The animals may not be able to eat any, but we LOVE chocolate! Starting May 3, we will have our 2025 Mother's Day special edition chocolate bars available for a suggested donation of $3 each! Thanks to Pam, the Chocolate Lady, we have milk and dark chocolate available, and the LEAP Community submitted designs for the wrappers, so it has been a great team effort to bring you these treats, and raise some funds for homeless animals. Congratulations to the design contest winners, Amanda Chubbuck and Deb Purington, as well!

See you at the Maine Fiddlehead Festival! We will have these and handmade bow ties available for donation at our table, so stop in to say hello.

Our biggest annual fundraiser is coming up faster than you think! Farmington Fairgrounds will be lined with tables full of treasures from kitchen gadgets to crochet, canned goods to jewelry, old, new and everything in between!

We will have the concession stand open, face painting and our mascot, Frankie the Shelter Dog, will be around to add to the fun, so bring the whole family and an empty trunk to make space for all of the cool things you'll find at the Maine's Mega Yard Sale! 2025 on June 7!
