PAWS provides medical care to dogs in the City Dog Pound and fosters unclaimed pound dogs that are adoptable, providing them with medical care, vet services, and a safe haven until a good home is found. At times, PAWS must donate funds and resources to other non-profit rescue groups in order to properly foster and care for adoptable animals.

Graylea has been at the pound far too long, and she would love to find a forever home of her own! Now through Oct 31st she is available for a special adoption fee of just $25.

Graylea is approximately 1 year old, she is a friendly girl who gets along with dogs, however we are unsure how she would react to cats or small animals.

Graylea and Pita have been at the pound for two months, which is much too long for any dog to live in a kennel. Help us reach our goal this month, to find them loving, forever homes!

PAWS had a FABULOUS time at the Fayette Festival of the Arts on Saturday. Many, many people came and talked with us and admired the puppies. We adopted one puppy and another puppy will be fostered by another family with the goal of adopting as long as the puppy blends in well with the family. So VERY GOOD results!
A HUGE thank you goes to Dana and Mel who helped to set up--at 7:30 a.m.!--and stayed til 1 p.m. Then Marilyn Wooldridge and Vanessa Melton and her two children helped in the afternoon and helped to dismantle for closing.
ANOTHER HUGE THANK YOU goes to Mel who hand-made, painted, and decorated several boxes that she offered at the booth and donated ALL proceeds to PAWS. We garnered $55 from those boxes! Thank you, Mel! A FABULOUS time was had by all.

Adopt Mimi! She is a Husky mix, around 1 year old. She does well with other dogs and loves to play! Appears to be house trained, she keeps her kennel clean if she can help it. She loves chew toys and is a stuffy destroyer extraordinaire!

This sweet guy was found in early July along Hwy 3 just past the Triangle (Hwy 5 and 3 intersection). Intact. No collar. Very skinny. :( Fortunately, a kind family has been caring for him. They like him very much--he's a friendly, playful, good-natured pup--but they would like to find someone who has more time to spend with him. Riggs has blue collar with two tags one with name and my old phone number 660202786 and the other one is a vet tag. Same with Peepie except has faded pink collar. Poppy helps feed Mickey

Rescue dogs aren't broken. They are perfect in every way. Poppy is a sweet young gal looking for her home, if you're interested in learning more please contact us! (Mickey the goat kid is not available for adoption, he lives happily with Poppy's foster mom 😉)

Our Story

PAWS provides medical care to dogs in the City Dog Pound and fosters unclaimed pound dogs that are adoptable, providing them with medical care, vet services, and a safe haven until a good home is found. At times, PAWS must donate funds and resources to other non-profit rescue groups in order to properly foster and care for adoptable animals. We provide transportation for owned pets, not just from the City of Fayette, but also for animals from Boonville, New Franklin, Armstrong, Glasgow and other communities that reach out to us for help with low cost vet services. When possible we assist other area city animal shelters in finding homes for adoptable animals. In conjunction with the Feral Cat Ordinance, PAWS not only traps and transports stray and feral cats for spay, neuter, and vaccination, but we absorb the costs for these services. PAWS offers educational programs for schools, groups, and other organizations. We participate in local events in order to share our message of responsible pet ownership. We have a phone "Hot Line" and can help people with specific animal care issues, network to help find a lost dog or reunite a found dog with it's owner, and offer a number of other resources to make the animal population in our area safe, healthy, and properly cared for.
