Did you know that we have a financial assistance program called SNIP? SNIP stands for Spay Neuter Initiative Program. SNVC began partnering with SNIP in 2020 and provides a reduction in surgical pricing to 501c3 animal rescues, animal shelters, and qualifying pet owners. Pet owners can qualify for SNIP if they receive government assistance such as Medicare, food stamps, or housing assistance.

‼️DESENSITIZATION‼️ I always say, #rescued is my favorite breed! This sweetie is coming up on her first year anniversary in the home, and we’re getting into more difficult tasks FOR HER My training style is to give each dog what they need when they need it. No two dogs are identical in their needs! We worked a lot on just making sure she was secure in her position in her home (pack) and building a good training relationship with me! Some trainers may or may not agree with my style, and some owners may feel it’s “too slow”, however, these canine-human relationships are highly important, ESPECIALLY dealing with a dog with an unknown or unhealthy background. This brings me to this clip of our training. Pup is scared of clicking sounds and collars. The previous day I’d brought out the collar her entire mood shifted (for the worst) and I spent the time just petting and reassuring her. IT IS NOT WORTH BREAKING A DOG’S TRUST TO TEACH THEM A NEW SKILL She was stunned that I, a human she trusted, was bringing out a tool that she has a troubled history with. HOW DARE I?! As you can clearly see, this day 2 of collar training she was much calmer right away. Because I hadn’t pressed too hard on the previous time, and next time will be that much easier! #NOPRESSURE Rescue dogs often need a lot of reassurance, and I urge owners and trainers to remain PATIENT. Because up til you, humans have failed this animal, so you’ve got to prove that we as a species aren’t all the same. I look forward to posting more videos in 2025! I always give the owner the option whenever weather is involved. Some owners don’t want their pups out in the rain and that is entirely their own prerogative! I will say, however, that the only way to get your pup comfortable with being outside in the weather is to take them outside in the weather 🙃. This pup’s owner gave me free reign, and when it started raining during our walk, he was actually a little unsure—even in the video you can hear him barking because the water was running from him! Rainy days are a perfect opportunity for training and enrichment for your dogs, especially your puppies, and they get the chance to figure out early on that rain or shine, sometimes you HAVE to go outside!! #dogtraining #dogtrainer #gsd #germanshepherd #pup #puppy #allbreedswelcome #summer2024

This is why some pet services have breed restrictions and/or upcharges. And yes this friendly fella did in fact make contact and bite me. I will not be making base rate price changes based on breed, because #AllBreedsWelcome I also knew he was willing to bite, the reason I was bitten was because I miscalculated his threshold when trying to wrangle him. That’s a me error. I am a professional, and a behaviorist, and I read his behavior, but mistakes happen and that’s not the owners fault. This pup will need socialization though, and a lot of it. He is not a hopeless case though! He’s a nervous dog! I have the knowledge to know the difference and am willing to work with this owner on adjusting this pup’s behavior. My response would have been the same had he been a larger dog behaving in this same manner.
