Apple Seeds’ final event of the year is one you won’t want to miss. Wild Table: A Culinary Adventure in Venison brings together two industry professionals for storytelling and good food, spotlighting the possibilities in cooking with venison and our responsibility to conservation.

Rick Spicer of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers will start the evening with a discussion around the nuances of hunting, followed by a multi-course venison feast by Chef Travis McConnell, courtesy of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Rick represents the Arkansas chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, working to protect access to public lands and promote sustainable food sourcing. He also co-owns Pack Rat Outdoor Center in Fayetteville, AR.

Chef Travis McConnell recently joined Brightwater as a butchery instructor, leading the launch of the new Artisan Butchery Program. This program is offered within the Brightwater Meat Institute and was designed by Chef McConnell to teach whole animal butchery, the craft of charcuterie, and the business practices essential to running an artisanal butchery operation. In collaboration with small family farms within the region, the program aims to support local producers and train the next generation of butchers and processors through hands-on learning. Taking a unique social entrepreneurship approach, students then learn and apply their skills within an educational setting.

Wild Table is a dinner series hosted by Apple Seeds to showcase wild foods and inspire conversations on conservation. Each event pairs a unique meal with insights from local experts.

We had a fantastic Kitchen Table Dinner with Chef Mitchell Griffith last weekend.🍂

It was a joy to reconnect with old friends and meet new faces in our cozy kitchen as we shared a delicious, fall-inspired meal. Mitchell and his talented team treated us to southern comforts made with local produce and the finest pork loin from Bansley's Berkshire Ridge Farm. We warmed our palettes with a seasonal bourbon cocktail created by Phillip at Wander Folk Spirits, as well as the last of the Elkasaurus Hef from Ozark Beer Company and Fossil Cove Brewing Co.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us—your presence made the night extra special! ❤️

❤️ Today marks the last day of farm field trips for the season, and we’re feeling ALL the emotions! ❤️

This semester, we've had the joy of welcoming 4,067 young learners from 1st-2nd grade onto the farm. Together, we’ve planted, harvested, tasted, and discovered the wonders of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Thank you to everyone who made this season so memorable. We can’t wait to welcome more students back when farm field trips resume in the Spring!

There’s nothing quite like the joy of harvesting fresh veggies from the garden. Tyson Elementary students experienced this first hand! We love seeing these students learn where their food comes from and experience the magic of nature. 💚🥕

Thanks to your hard work and dedication, we’ve donated a whopping 11,178 bags of fresh produce this year! 🥕🍅 That’s more than double the 5,885 bags we donated last year. Let's keep this momentum going — together, we’re making a difference one bag at a time!

Join us for our November Kitchen Table Dinner, featuring Mitchell Griffith of Griffith Goods and Spirits, to start the season of thankfulness with good friends and a good meal. As Mitchell Griffith says, "Food and drink is something essential to life, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring," and this evening will be anything but. Chef Griffith's international travel and mixology experiences will entertain you, from the autumnal flavors on your plate to the story he will tell you about it.

Featured Chef - Beginning in his grandma’s house and continuing through various Fayetteville restaurants, Mitchell Griffith has always loved being in kitchens. While supporting Tacos4Life as a traveling trainer and location manager, he honed his love for connecting to different communities in Northwest Arkansas through food. In 2017, Mitchell became the Beer and Cocktail Program Manager at Puritan Coffee and Beer. During his time there, he created seasonal craft cocktail and beer menus showcasing the best of local flavors and representing national craft industry trends. It was during the 2020 pandemic that Mitchell found his passion for sharing his love of food and craft beverages so people could experience them in their own homes. In 2021, Mitchell started Griffith Goods and Spirits to realize his vision of a community-oriented catering service. Focusing on one of a kind culinary experiences, Mitchell serves guests of weddings, corporate events, and private dinners around Northwest Arkansas. Griffith Goods and Spirits aims to leave people better than he found them: in good spirits.

The event takes place on Friday, November 8, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Apple Seeds Teaching Farm in Fayetteville, AR.

Our Evening at the Farm Community Night celebration was a wonderful testament to the generosity of our community. Thank you to the 200 (!!!) guests who joined us Saturday - you helped set a new record on the farm. We hope everyone had an amazing time, and we were all so inspired to hear from Mary Thompson and Kyra Ramsey (former co-executive director) as they shared the story of Apple Seeds from the past 11 years to now.

Cheers to many more years of inspiring healthy living through garden-based education!
