As we continue to bring awareness to ***depreventionmonth this September, let's look at separating the myths from the facts as this will help you recognize the warning signs, respond appropriately, and even save a life.

Myth #9: Pet ownership reduces the risk of su***de Anecdotally it may seem that pet ownership is protective, but research has not demonstrated an association between pet ownership and su***de. In fact, the loss of a beloved pet can be a risk factor for su***de.

Myth #10: Animals die by su***de Although folklore includes tales of su***de among animals, modern naturalistic studies of thousands of animal species in field situations have not identified su***de in nonhuman species. Death by su***de is strictly a human phenomenon.

We've had so many puppies and young dogs through the clinic these last few weeks with canine parvovirus. Please keep your puppies at home until fully vaccinated, no pet parks or trips to big box pet stores!

This is Artemis who had to stay in the hospital awhile back and being a young pup didn't fully understand why she felt so bad. Her owners quickly noted her change in behavior; a decrease in appetite, thirst, energy and blood present in her stool.

Canine parvovirus (CPV) is a highly contagious viral disease of dogs that commonly causes acute gastrointestinal illness in puppies.

We are very happy Artemis is fully recovered as some pups don't pull through this hard hitting virus.

Hug your pups and vaccinate!
