Friends of Cumberland County AnimalS

The mission of the FOCCAS is to work in conjunction with CCAC to promote animal welfare initiatives. This is an open intake, county shelter.

This page is managed and maintained by volunteers supporting the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, the animals under the shelter's care and the community the shelter serves. IT IS NOT ADMINISTERED, MANAGED OR AFFILIATED WITH CUMBERLAND COUNTY GOVERNMENT OR THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER. Animals WILL BE EUTHANIZED for space when the shelter is full, as it is every week. DO NOT wait if you ar

e interested in any animal listed. Page Policies:

- Rude comments, personal attacks on shelter staff, volunteers, county officials, page admins, former owners or anyone else WILL NOT be tolerated. Admins will ban people who do not follow this policy.

- Comments found to be threatening, hurtful or offensive in nature will be removed and the commenter may be banned.

- We give you permission to share our animals and pictures - PLEASE DO! However, please leave contact information attached to the picture so that, four shares later, someone wanting to help or adopt one of our animals has the correct information.

- We cannot place a hold on animals through this page. YOU MUST CONTACT THE SHELTER DIRECTLY at 910-321-6852.

- Animals should not be considered safe until word comes from this page that the animal has left the shelter.

- All animals have only a 72 hour required hold and with the volume entering the shelter each animal should be considered extremely urgent.

- Speak kindly... there are puppies present.

* he was found abandoned
* greets at his kennel door with tail wags and wiggles.
* excited to see visitors and ready to be friends
* easy to leash and walks well on leash
* likes to explore and check things out
* happy, friendly, and social fellow
* gives gentle hugs to show his affection - he is easily redirected by telling him down or sit.
* active fella - would make a great walking or running buddy
* knows basic commands
* sat for treats, took them gently from my hand and waited patiently for more
* playful, curious, and affectionate

Freckles is a sweet boy. He loves everyone and he wants you to love him back! He is up for what ever you are! He would love to hang out and play a good game of fetch or simply just relax by your side soaking up endless back scratches.
Freckles enjoyed walking around and spending time with us volunteers. He was happy to just hang out and enjoy our company! This sweet boy simply just wants your attention and love.
Freckles is looking forward to having a family to spend his life with. Our shelter is full, can you help him out?

* he is crate trained, and knows sit. He like walks, car rides, and being bathed/groomed - per previous owner

Bordeaux is a cutie pie who is looking forward to new beginnings with a forever family. He is a total lovebug who has yet to meet a stranger. He will quickly win you over with his irresistible doggy charm and his sweet nature. Bordeaux is ready to move on with his life and get back to some loving with a new family of his own. Sweet Damira is a super happy girl. She is very people friendly and appears to get along well with other dogs. Of course as always a meet and greet is recommended with your pet(s). She knows exactly what to do to draw you to her kennel with those big pleading eyes. She will surely steal your heart She is ready for a new family to come take her home. Our shelter is full.

* she welcomes all pets/attention and is very fond of belly rubs and back scratches

This little girl is absolutely gorgeous! Meadow has those big puppy dogs eyes that will quickly steal your heart. She was a bit shy initially due to being in the noisy and unfamiliar shelter environment. She is quick to warm up though and she loves to snuggle up in your lap for pets and love. She really needs an adopter to take her home where she can feel loved, safe, and secure again. Our shelter is full.

* she's been neglected and not cared for properly; she just needs some good old TLC
