The mission of the FOCCAS is to work in conjunction with CCAC to promote animal welfare initiatives. This is an open intake, county shelter.

This page is managed and maintained by volunteers supporting the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, the animals under the shelter's care and the community the shelter serves. IT IS NOT ADMINISTERED, MANAGED OR AFFILIATED WITH CUMBERLAND COUNTY GOVERNMENT OR THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER. Animals WILL BE EUTHANIZED for space when the shelter is full, as it is every week. DO NOT wait if you ar

- Rude comments, personal attacks on shelter staff, volunteers, county officials, page admins, former owners or anyone else WILL NOT be tolerated. Admins will ban people who do not follow this policy.

TILLY (A413618)

This is Tilly She's about 6 months old and is a Labrador Retriever mix. She weighs 32 pounds and is heartworm negative. She was found along with her puppy sister "Tina" on Smith Road, and no one came to look for them.
Tilly sits at the front of her kennel ready to greet any visitors. She will greet you a friendly face and plenty of tail wags. She loves people and is happy to see you.
Tilly is just a baby so I spent time with her inside of her kennel. She welcomed me right into her space and was quick to share her puppy kisses.
She has good puppy manners and she sat perfectly for her picture. She took treats ever so gently from my hand.
Tilly welcomed all of my belly rubs and back scratches. She stretched out on the kennel floor and was so happy for the extra attention. She's a loving little girl and is very attentive and affectionate.
Sweet Tilly would love to be your next furry family member. She is still a pup who has her whole life ahead of her and she wants to share it with you . Come meet this sweetie pie! She needs a home quickly. Our shelter is full.

URGENT!
Shiba is a 4 year old cane corso that has spent her life outside and over breed. Despite her past, she is perfect, however she needs to be in an only dog home. Shiba knows sit and shake. Great with kids big and small. She wants to be by your side at all time. Loves attention and pets from everyone. Shiba does well in her kennel and perfect for baths. She takes treats super slow and gentle. She also loves belly rubs and toys (she doesn't even destroy them). Shiba is dominant and would do best in an only dog home. She has an amazing recall and walks great on a leash.

Introducing Wanda. She’s a 2 year old Labrador Retriever mix. She weighs 60 pounds and is heartworm negative. Wanda was adopted awhile ago from us. Sadly she is an owner surrender as she “wasn’t fitting in” and the owners felt she needed a family that has more time and attention to devote to her 🙁.
The previous owners note that she is good with dogs and older children. She might need a cat free home. A cat test is definitely recommended. Wanda is crate trained, housebroken, and knows sit. She likes walks and car rides. She will also need a secure fence or close monitoring when outside. She is good on leash.

Welcome JK Growling. She’s a 2 year old terrier mix who is heartworm negative. She came to the shelter after being abandoned. Despite her sad past she is looking ahead to a bright future.
JK Growling has an end kennel and lots of doggies and people pass by. She watches and waits her turn to go outside. She has tail wags for you and she “talks” to you. She’s saying, “take me outside to stretch”. She didn’t have far to walk at all. She did say hello to several doggie friends at their kennels. She sniffed noses with them. We do always recommend meet and greets.
JK Growling was very attentive to her surroundings. She did a few quick “zoomies” around the yard. She likes to set the pace of her walking and exploring. After her initial burst she was calm in the yard and was checking out the sights and scents. She was eager to welcome treats and affection. She sprawled in the grass to enjoy treats. She welcomes rubs and scrubs.

Krueger stands at his kennel, watching, and ready to greet visitors. He was easy to leash. He had a short walk to the yard, but he was gentle on leash. Outside Krueger was content to meander along and explore the scents in the yard.
Once he discovered that I had treats he stayed in one spot. He tracked his treats, took them very gently, and savored them. Once he finished one he was ready for another. Meet Kinsley! She's about a year old, weighs 42 pounds and is heartworm negative. She came in as a stray and sadly no one came to look for this sweet baby.
Kinsley is a beautiful girl who longs for a home and a family. She's may be a little shy at first meeting. She is very submissive and quickly shows of her sweet personality once she sees you're there to show her love.
The noisy shelter environment can be a scary place for any dog and she simply wants and seeks your love and comfort.
Kinsley came up to the front of her kennel to greet me. Once she saw I meant her no harm she welcomed me into her space. She crawled right up into my lap for all the pets and comfort that I was willing to give her.
Kinsley sat for treats and took them gently from my hand. She was a perfect model for her picture and she showed off her good manners. She is eager to please and looks to you for direction.
I sat down on her kennel floor and gave her plenty of extra pets, treats, and love to help her feel more comfortable and secure.
Kinsley is such a gentle little girl and she wants to please her person. She is truly a wonderful little dog and will be a great family member.
Sweet Kinsley can't wait to have a loving home where she can get back to snuggling on a couch and being spoiled. This baby is sure to make a welcome addition for anyone if given a chance.

She's the sweetest! Lita is a beautiful girl who has a gorgeous brindle coat and big brown eyes that long to love and be loved. Lita weighs 65 pounds and is heartworm negative.
She was recently brought to the shelter after she was found wandering around alone. No one ever came for her and honestly I'm surprised as she looks to have been very well cared for.
Lita sits patiently at the front of her kennel waiting for you to notice her. She will welcome any and all of your attention and pets.
She is quiet and calm in and out of her kennel and she has good manners.
Lita walks easily on leash and follows your lead. She was quite content to stay close by my side getting plenty of back scratches and ear scrubs. She took treats gently from my hand and gave tiny kisses as a thank you.
Lita enjoyed her walk in the play yard and was a curious explorer. She has perfect manners and is very well behaved. She enjoyed her time outside and simply enjoyed her time being spoiled and loved on.
This wonderful girl has a lot of love to give and all she really wants is to share her love with you. Surely there is someone who needs this sweetness in their life! The shelter is FULL and Lita needs a home quickly!

Meet our pretty pup Lyla. She is about 8 months old, weighs 43 pounds and is heartworm negative.
Lyla was brought to our overcrowded shelter after she was found wandering around Cross Creek Mall alone. No one came to look for her and now she is in need of a loving home.
Lyla hangs out at her kennel door. She is waiting for you to stop by and give her some attention. She tries to "talk" to you as she wants you to know she is ready to spend time with you. She's trying to make the best of things while she's here although she would love to have a new family quickly!
Lyla greeted me with a friendly face and tail wags. She leashed right up and we walked out to the yard for some exercise and fresh air.
She was excited to go out to the play yard and she took care of her business right away.

Meet Holden! This handsome tail wagging boy is ready for a home! Holden is estimated to be about 5 years old. He weighs 49 pounds and is heartworm negative.
Holden came in as a stray after he was found wandering around on Driftwood Drive. No one came to claim him and now he needs a home.
Holden met me at the front of his kennel with a big doggy smile and a wagging tail.
He took a few treats gently from my hand. He seems to be fairly treat motivated and sat like a good boy for them.
Sweet Holden walks good on leash. He was excited to go out for some fresh air and a potty break. He took care of his business right away so I would say he's likely housebroken.
He walked around the play yard sniffing, exploring, and checking things out. He was very curious about all the new sights, smells, and sounds. He stayed close by though and preferred to hang out near me.
Holden enjoyed his kennel break, he pranced around some showing off his playful side. He was happy to be out and about in the yard.

She's a beauty! Zuna is an 8 month old Shepherd and Husky mix. She weighs 56 pounds and is heartworm negative. She is an owner surrender as she doesn't like the family cat.
Zuna's previous owner noted she is good with other dogs and children of all ages. They say she is an indoor dog and is house and crate trained. She knows the sit and lay down commands. They say she likes walks, chew toys, and being a lap dog. Zuna will need a secure yard. .
Sweet Zuna is used to having a home and family and is a little bit confused about being here at our shelter.
Zuna greeted me at her kennel door. She was a little bashful at first but warmed up quickly. She was happy to have a visitor and gave me some tail wags and kisses.
Zuna leashed up and we went out to the yard for a kennel break and pictures. She walked good on leash. She sat when told to do so and she gave a big smile for her pictures.
Zuna is an all around good pup! She welcomed all of my attention and was especially fond of back rubs and my affection.

Check out that pretty smile folks! Who doesn't love a smiling dog? This is Ryker. He is about 3 years old and a German Shepherd mix. Ryker weighs 62 pounds and is heartworm negative. Ryker is a handsome fella with a soft and shiny brindle coat! He came to us after he was found on Derrydown Court and no one came to look for him.
Ryker greeted me at his kennel door with a friendly face and plenty of tail wags. He was happy to see a visitor and ready to be friends.
I gave him a treat and we went outside to get to know each other. Ryker is a strong boy but he walks well when on leash. He listens and can be redirected quite easily! He took care of his business right away so he is more than likely house trained.
Ryker is a curious explorer. He walked around sniffing and exploring the yard and checking everything out. He didn't miss a beat!
This is one smart fella! He knows sit, stay, and the down command. He sat nicely for treats and took his treat gently from my hand.

Samuel is about 7 months old. He's a neutered Flat Coat Retriever mix. He is a little fella weighing just 35 pounds and he's heartworm negative.

Cute puppy alert!! Isn't this baby girl adorable? Arlet is about 5 months old and weighs 23 pounds. Sadly this puppy came into the shelter after she and her puppy friend "Arlo" were found running around a parking lot near a very busy road here in Fayetteville. No one ever came to look for them and now they need a home.
Arlet is happy, sweet and loving. She is full of tail wags, big puppy smiles, and a wiggle butt. This friendly little sweetheart welcomes all of your love and attention! She never stops wagging her tail. And, she is all about getting and receiving your love.

Meet Adeline. This sweet beauty is ready for a family to spend her life with. Adeline is a Border Collie mix. She weighs 46 pounds and is heartworm negative.
Adeline was brought in as a stray after she was found wandering around near Ramsey Street. Her owner never came to look for her and now she is ready for a new home.
Adeline greeted me at her kennel door. She was excited to get some attention and pets. She had plenty of tail wags for me! Adeline is a friendly and loving girl who craves your attention but she is not needy!
Adeline wants to please and stays close by your side. She is pretty chill and laid back. She walked well on leash and enjoyed her break out in the yard.
Adeline gave her best model pose for the camera. She took treats very gently. She is fairly treat motivated and eager to please.
Beautiful Adeline doesn't mind other dogs. She made friends with "Alice" who is also here at our shelter and they had a good time together.
Adeline is ready to start her new life with you! She is looking forward to having a family of her own, can you give this sweetie a home?
